Immigrant Journal Directions
You will complete an immigrant journal based on the information you will be given in class (Ellis Island video, immigration websites, notes taken in groups) and any independent information you wish to use. As always, you will be expected to follow the directions given to complete your journal.
All journal entries will contain a minimum of four complete, descriptive, sentences. Your three pictures will be a reflection of the immigrant experience and should be neatly drawn and colored. You may use the internet for pictures, but at least ONE of the pictures must be hand drawn and colored. Cover picture: contains your name, your title, and is representative of immigration. Inside cover: depicts your journey to America (boat, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty) Back cover: depicts your new life in America (factory, tenement, farm, etc.) The following terms will be included somewhere in your journal. (This, is different from COPY and PASTE – which is not allowed. Late journals will lose 10 points for each day they are late. A rough draft of your sentences will be completed and checked in class.
