Tipler Sports by Val Langkau, Mackenzie Wissink, Jeremy Schumann
Tipler wrestling has a new coach, you may remember him from when he was the assistant industrial technology
teacher, Mr. Marks. His friend Mr. Leroy, who is getting put into the North Hall of Fame for getting 12 letters in high
school, is assistant coach. According to Jake Wissink, an 8th grader who has been wrestling since 6th grade, “He’s one of
the better coaches that we’ve had.”
This years wrestling team has a total of 37 people. 12 of them being 6th graders, 7 of them being 7th graders, and
18 of them being 8th graders. Most of them having little or no experience but Wissink says that “most of the inexperienced
kids are picking things up fast”. Justin Baker, another 8th grade wrestler who has been wrestling for a while thinks that
“Tipler is doing well and will continue to do well throughout the season.” When asked what they do in practice Baker said
“we do a lot of conditioning.” Wissink agreed saying that “wrestling is fun and it’s a good way to workout” Wissink also
says that he has “improved a lot throughout the 3 years” he’s wrestled, and during the off season he “plays other sports to
prepare himself.” Both Wissink and Baker plan to continue wrestling throughout high school. This years wrestling season
should be pretty exciting so wish everyone luck and come to the upcoming wrestling meets to cheer them on.

Tipler News by Brittany Ziemer, Meghan Cram, Sarah Norton
If you hadn’t noticed Tipler just finished collecting milk caps to raise money for our school. Wanting to get as many milk caps as possible,Mr. Choinkski
(head of Student Council) set up a fun way for us to do this. The “game” that he came up with was called the “Wheel of Misfortune.” This is how it was
done. Everyday buckets were laid out on the office counter and each bucket had a teacher’s name labeled on it. When you had milk caps you would
place them in the bucket with the teacher’s name that you wanted to have a “misfortunate” thing done to them. Whatever teacher ended up with over
400 milk caps in their bucket had to spin the “Wheel of Misfortune” and have what it said done to them. The students submitted ideas to have put on
the “Wheel of Misfortune” for the teachers to do. The assembly was held on March 9th during 8th hour. These were our misfortunate winners:
Mr. Bosovic with 1,049 milk caps,
Mrs. Martin/ Mr. Schmidt with 648 milk caps,
Mr. Choinkski/ Ms. Andreska with 579 milk caps,
Mrs. Kiffmeyer with 637 milk caps,
Mrs. Pfaff with 591 milk caps
Mrs. Eichel with 502 milk caps,
And lastly Ms. Mader with 400 milk caps.
We interviewed the two misfortunate winners, Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Kiffmeyer and this is what they had to say.
What misfortunate thing was done to you?
Mrs. Kiffmeyer- I had to dig for milk caps in whipped cream.
Mrs. Martin- I was made into a human sundae.
What did you and didn’t you like about what you had to do?
Mrs. Kiffmeyer- I liked winning and hated the taste of the whipped cream.
How did you feel when you found out you were a part of this?
Mrs. Kiffmeyer- I was mad because Mrs. Pfaff cheated.
Mrs. Martin- I just thought it was fun.
Did you think this was a good idea? Do you think we should do it again?
Mrs. Kiffmeyer- I thought it was a great idea and I think we should do it again but each teacher should pick a student to have something misfortunate
done to them.
Mrs. Martin- Yes I think it was a very good idea, because it showed the teachers have fun too and raised money for school.
GREAT JOB Tipler!!! Keep supporting these worthwhile cases!!!

West Sports by Jordan Helfrich, Jaci Dehne, Brittany Young
Oshkosh West beats Verona to a 52-42 game in the quarter-finals, on Thursday March 16th. The game was very exciting right away with West’s
fantastic defense. They had 11 points on Verona with them not making one shot. Verona missed their first 10 shots, and only ended up scoring 3 points in
the first quarter. At half time West had an 8 point lead with a score of 23-15. The game became close for a short while, but West played well and usually
had a ten point lead throughout the second half. This led them to a great victory against Verona. They will next play against Arrowhead on March 17th and if
they win that game they will be in a final game. Hopefully by the time you read this West will have won the State championship!
Oshkosh West varsity basketball records: The boys teams has won 41 straight conference games in 3 years with a record of 59-1 over that time and a
   22-0 record this year.
Here is an interview with Mr. Clark the assistant West varsity basketball coach.
Was this a good year? “Yeah, it was very fun.”
What will be different next year? “5 seniors will be graduating and 3 of them will be going on to division 1 schools on scholarships. We might not have
as much talent, but we will be a lot bigger in size. The other teams will be tougher.”
Will you keep up the undefeated streak? “Hopefully.”
What are the chances of you winning state? “Very good.”
Who do you think it is going to come down to in the end? “Well West and either Milwaukee- King or Vincent which are the two teams ahead of us
and are ranked #1 and #2.”

  West Wins State!!!!!

In a great game between Oshkosh West and defending state champions, Madison Memorial, two things could not be denied, the
defense of Lance Randall’s team and Andy Polka. West held Madison to a season low in points and won a very well played game.
They sealed the game the way they played the entire game, with great defense and nearly flawless offense. Congratulations to Mr.
Clark and the entire West boys basketball program.

Coming home from a normal day at school, ten children never expected there to be a crash. The

semi struck the bus from behind . David Senft, a 14-year-old eighth-grader, died last night, March 15th. Six
other students and the two drivers of the bus and semi were all hospitalized. The other students left the bus
with only bumps and bruises. The semi truck’s front end was ruined, and the back end of the bus was torn

Movie Review by Emily Moss, Morgan Counts
                                                                   “Date Movie”
Those who have seen Scary Movie 1, 2, and 3 remember you had to close your eyes because you might be scared? Well in
this movie we closed our eyes because we couldn’t bear to watch the vulgarity and stupidity of every scene.
Date Movie is a comedy about Julia Jones (Alyson Hannigan) on a mission to find true love. She bumps into Grant Fonckyer-
doder (Adam Cambell) at her father’s cafe. From there they go on and plan to get married.
Most of the movie is just imitating other movies such as Napoleon Dynamite, Meet the Parents, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Shal-
low Hal, Hitch, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Pretty Woman, Wedding Crashers and some that don’t have anything to do with
romance at all such as: Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, and King Kong.
Overall the movie was funny in parts, but also downright disgusting in others. When they couldn’t have made a funny scene,
they just filled it in with gross ones. like when Julia went to “pimp her ride” they had liposuction done to her. That was not funny at all.
Most of the movie was either a stupid scene that wasn’t funny, or a gross scene that was definitely not funny. “Date Movie” seemed
like it was made just to see how many movies you could fit together into one. We absolutely do not suggest you to go out and rent
this movie (not yet out on VHS or DVD) because you will not remember anything that happened because you will either fall asleep or
have your eyes closed the whole time. You’re better off renting Barney.
Overall, we would rate this movie a 3 out of 10.
