And she accepted! She has spent the past 5 months working on the film and hopes to enter it in documentary competitions. The film will be centered on The Dwight School and will be tied together with John Lennon’s song, Imagine. “I chose to tie it all together with this because the John Lennon Memorial is near our school and the theme in this song is rela tive to Internationalism. Also, this is the 25th anniversary of John Lennon’s assassination. Community and service are also relevant to my personal project. I have focused on the Dwight community and how everything ties together into one film. I also think that environment plays a part in my project because school plays a major part in our lives and becomes a second home. Since my project is a documentation of our ‘second home’ it fits into this category.” – Daphne Schuller ’08 Enjoy watching her film tonight. Place your order for IMAGINE and capture the 2005-2006 school year forever! Daphne Schuller ’08 Video: $25. Patti 1L THE BEST OF THE BEST: 12 BOTTLES OF 1988 DOMINUS RED WINE AND 25 ROMEO Y JULIETA CUBAN CIGARS Dominus, is the proprietary red wine produced in the heart of Napa Valley by Christian Moueix, the family that also owns Petrus, the French winery that produced the greatest of all French Bordeaux. Since 1983, their goal has been to express the unique terroir found at the historic Napanook Vineyard. Dominus has become known since its first release for its complexity and earthy character, which pay tribute to the Napanook terroir. Christian Moueix truly believes that producing a wine begins in the vineyard. For that reason, each vintage is unique with different varietal blends reflecting the vineyard and climate conditions of that particular year. “The dense, opaque ruby/purple color exhibits great saturation and intensity, and the nose is beginning to offer up smoked herb and ripe cassis aromas. Great saturation and intensity...smoked herb and ripe cassis aromas. In the mouth, the wine is deep...with excellent concentration, and one of the longest, richest finishes I have found." - Robert Parker. Wine can be delivered to the winner with one week’s notice. Courtesy of Tom and Kathy Freston Value: Priceless Film Choices: Barn Yard – 2006* (www.barnyardmovie.com) A hilarious look at what really happens in a barnyard when the farmer’s back is turned. Barnyard is a lighthearted tale centering around Otis, a carefree party cow, who enjoys singing, dancing and playing tricks on humans. Unlike his father Ben, the respected patriarch of the farm, and Miles, the wise old mule, Otis is unconcerned about keeping the animals’ humanlike talents a secret. But when put in the position of responsibility, the “udderly” irresponsible cow finds the courage to be a leader. Charlotte’s Web – December 2006* (www.charlotteswebmovie.com) Help is coming from above this Christmas! The classic story of loyalty, trust, and sacrifice comes to life in this live-action adaptation. Fern is one of only two living beings who sees that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him, the runt of the litter, into a terrific and radiant pig. As Wilbur moves into a new barn, he begins a second profound friendship with the most unlikely of creatures – a spider named Charlotte – and their bond inspires the animals around them to come together as a family. When the word gets out that Wilbur’s days are numbered, it seems that only a miracle will save his life. A determined Charlotte – who sees miracles in the ordinary – spins words into her web in an effort to convince the farmer that Wilbur is “some pig” and worth saving. Flushed Away – November 2006* (www.flushedaway.com) Flushed Away is a madcap comedy set on and beneath the streets of London. Roddy is a decidedly upper-crust “society rat” who lives the life of a pampered pet in a posh Kensington flat, complete with two hamster butlers named Gilbert and Sullivan. When a common sewer rat named Syd comes sprewing out of the sink and decides he’s hit the jackpot, Roddy schemes to rid himself of the pest by luring him into the whirlpool. Syd may be an ignorant slob, but he is no fool, so it is Roddy who winds up being flushed away into the bustling sewer world of Ratopolis. There Roddy meets Rita, an enterprising scavenger who works the sewers in her faithful boat, the Jammy Dodger. Roddy immediately wants out, or rather up; Rita wants to be paid for her trouble; and speaking of trouble, the villainous Toad – who royally despises all rodents – wants them iced…literally. The Toad dispatches his two hapless hench-rats, Spike and Whitey, to get the job done. When they fail, the Toad has no choice but to send to France for his cousin – that dreaded mercenary, Le Frog. *Release Dates subject to change LIVE 11 CHALLENGE THE CHANCELLOR AND/OR DEMOLISH THE (EXECUTIVE) DIRECTOR!! J. Mendel spans a history of five generations, beginning in 1870 with Joseph Breitman, furrier to the Russian aristocracy. Breitman founded a small family company to service an elite clientele, established on the premises of extraordinary luxury, exceptional quality, and unparalleled style. J. Mendel designer Gilles Mendel has radically changed how we understand fur, transforming what was once thought of as formal and heavy into a precious fabric – feather light, form fitting and surprisingly adaptable. Unhampered by the conservative reverence towards costly skins shared by many of his peers, it was Mendel’s willingness to shear, slash and reconstruct materials like sable, mink and broadtail that breathed new life into his field, renovating a baroque idea of luxury and attracting a younger generation of clients on fashion’s cutting edge. Be one of his clients and wrap yourself in this beautiful, unique silver fox Boa!
