Journal Subscriptions The Library currently directly subscribes to approximately 1800 print and electronic journals on behalf of academic departments. In addition to this we subscribe to many online resources, which provide us with access to over 7000 additional journal titles. As many of these titles as possible have been included in the Library catalogue (some online resources don’t facilitate direct access to journal titles within them, so these are not included). The Library catalogue is the most complete list of what we subscribe to. The Find E-Journal service is useful for finding electronically accessible journals, but it is important to note that 800 of our journal subscriptions are print only subscriptions and therefore not included in this list. Each year academic departments review their subscriptions in the summer and decide what titles they will renew or cancel for the following subscription year. Departmental subscription lists are available from your Information Librarian or from Maireád Treanor, Ext. 3338. These are updated regularly throughout the year to reflect actual costs per title as invoices arrive. Print journals are received by the journals staff in the Bibliographic Services department of the Library. They are checked in on the Library management system, where you can see which issues have been received by the Library and which are due. Journal issues that are late arriving are claimed by the journals staff, but if you spot something that you feel should have arrived please do let us know by contacting Bernie, Patricia or Teresa at Ext. 3399 or 3034. Print journals are sent for binding each summer, so you may find the issue you are looking for is missing during this time. Our binders facilitate us by sending back a copy of any article being sought, so please let us know if you are looking for a title that’s gone for binding by contacting Ann at Ext. 3337. Access to electronic journals can be subject to a variety of problems, unfortunately the only way we have of knowing if a particular title has become inaccessible is when users let us know. So, if you feel we should have access to a title and you are being refused access please do get in touch so that we can investigate. Contact Mairead at Ext. 3338 or Monica at Ext. 3765 If you have any enquiries about journals, including starting a new subscription, please contact Mairead Treanor at Ext. 3338 or your Information Librarian.
