ANIMAL, new international scientific journal to be launched in April
A tripartite agreement for the launch of a new international journal of animal science has been reached. Resulting from the agreement is a new journal entitled “ANIMAL” with the byline - The International Journal of Animal Bioscience - aims to become one of the leading journals worldwide in animal science covering the agricultural, biomedical and environmental sciences. The collaborating parties are the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), the British Society of Animal Science (BSAS) and the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP). The first issue will appear in January 2007 and its main subject areas will include animal genetics, nutrition, physiology and functional biology, animal behaviour, well-being and health. Papers with a multidisciplinary approach to these topics and their impact on the environment and people will be particularly welcome. A joint statement issued by Philippe Chemineau (Head of the INRA Department of Animal Physiology and Livestock Systems) Mike Steele (Chief Executive of BSAS) and Andrea Rosati (General Secretary of EAAP) claimed, “The collaboration of these three European organisations will make ANIMAL a major international force in the field of animal science. This is a truly International partnership with all three parties contributing different skills in animal science communication. We aim to benefit from each other’s strengths and produce a first class publication that will also reduce fragmentation in the sector.
The partners encourage other journals to join the consortium.
The journal has been established from the merging of three existing journals: "Animal Science" (BSAS), "Reproduction, Nutrition, Development" and "Animal Research" (INRA). ANIMAL will be published monthly and on an annual basis publish some 200 articles and a total of 1800 pages.
