Reflective Journal Writing I want you to be serious about your journal and to be diligent about completing the various assignments. Take pride in your work and the appearance of your journal. Decorate the cover; make it your own. As long as the decorations are appropriate for school, you can create your own design. This is your journal and it is a reflection of you. I will usually give daily and/or weekly journal assignments and it is up to you to stay on top of these assignments. I will collect the journals several times throughout the course; however, I will not collect them after each assignment nor will I remind you of each assignment that has been given. It is up to YOU to do the work! If you miss class, you will be responsible for finding out the journal topics from a fellow classmate. I will evaluate your journals based on completion and effort. I can tell when you have put forth your best effort and when you have not. Your grade will reflect this. My aim is to help you make the most of your writing experience. I welcome the chance to give feedback through my comments in your journal; however, I am available to meet with you individually if you want to discuss your writing in more detail. Things to Remember: Please write or print legibly (I can’t evaluate what I can’t read). This is NOT A DIARY! I am required by law to report anything that seems alarming to me. If you or someone you know is in danger, I must contact officials. This is your journal. Let it reflect your thoughts, ideas, and most importantly your voice. You have a story to tell and I want to hear it through your voice. Good writing tells the truth. Tell the truth as you know it.
