Cox Customer Service Center LSU Union, First Floor Open: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday Scroll back to Top how do I connect my TV set? After we have activated service to your room or apartment, you are responsible for connecting it to your set. If your set has a CATV post connection, screw the incoming cable directly to it even if the set also has VHF/UHF antenna screws. Some sets with both also have a switch near the cable post, which must be set. If you only have VHF and UHF screws, detach any "rabbit ears," screw a "pigtail" converter to the incoming cable, and attach the pigtail leads under the VHF (not UHF) screws. Most sets also have either a switch, a button, or an on-screen menu command for CATV or TV which must be set to the CATV position. Scroll back to Top Do I need any attachments? In residence halls or Greek houses (but usually not our apartments); you probably will need an extension "jumper cable" to reach from the wall jack to the TV. If your TV does not have a CATV post connector, you will also need a small "pigtail" converter. Jumper cables are available at the Cox Communications booth during Roaring into the Halls at the PMAC, or you may come by the Cox Service Center located on the first floor of the LSU Union after the semester begins (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm). Damages to cable equipment interrupt service, require costly repairs, and ultimately affect your pocketbook. Be considerate of fellow students and leave cable equipment alone. Any damage to connections in rooms will be charged to residents of that room. Any damage to cable equipment in other areas will be charged to those persons responsible or to all residents of the hall or area. Cox technicians will never make an unsolicited visit to your room or apartment to offer you cable. Valid Cox Premium subscriptions are arranged only by contacting Cox Communications at 615- 2005, or via the Cox application in your housing packet. If anyone solicits you on-site, decline the offer, do not pay him/her any money, and report the event promptly to the cable office. If you accept and the person does not connect you, you will have lost your money. If he/she succeeds in connecting you, then you may become liable for signal theft. CONNECTION TO THE CABLE WITHOUT HAVING MADE PROPER ARRANGEMENTS IS A VIOLATION OF UNIVERSITY POLICY AND FEDERAL LAW! Anyone receiving cable signals illegally will be charged the semester rate plus a $50 service charge. Offenders may also be subject to University disciplinary procedures. Fraternities and sororities are responsible for the actions of members living in their houses, and repeated offenses may result in charges to, termination of service to, or disciplinary action against, the group.
