Phone Shortcuts User Guide
Phone Shortcuts is a software tool which allows you to start the applications faster using shortcuts, hotkeys and
the start at boot (autoboot) feature. The main screen of the application shows you a grid of 3x4=12 entries. Each
entry is a shortcut for which you can associate an application and edit its settings in order to start it faster. Also, each
shortcut is associated by default with the phone’s numeric keys from 1-9, 0, * and # (hotkeys).
When the Phone Shortcuts tool is started and the main screen is shown, select the desired shortcut and press
the joystick or directly press the associated key (hotkey) in order to start the application.
Depending on your settings, each application defined for a shortcut can also be started by pressing the associated
key (hotkey) for a specified period of time even the Phone Shortcuts is not running. You can keep the hotkey
pressed for its timeout no matter what the phone shows and the application will be started.
To edit a shortcut, use the Options->Edit shortcut command and complete the settings as follows:
1 Select application. Allows you to select the application to start. Use the first item in list called None (empty) if
you do not wish an application to be selected for Phone Shortcuts (shortcut empty).
2 Shortcut hotkey. This is the associated hotkey which lets you start the application even the Phone Shortcuts is
not running. If this setting is set on Disabled the application can not be started by its hotkey. You must start first
the Phone Shortcuts tool and use the Options->Start application or the joystick in order to start it. If set on
Enabled, this setting will show the associated hotkey (ex: Enabled – Key 3). In this case you can start the
application by pressing the hotkey for the time specified in the Hotkey timeout setting. The application will start
even the Phone Shortcuts tool is not running.
3 Hotkey timeout. Allows you to set the timeout for the hotkey you have to keep pressed to start the application
   defined for shortcut.
4 Hotkey ignores keylock. If set on Yes, while you keep the hotkey pressed for its timeout, the application will be
started no matter if the keypad is locked or not. If set on No, you must first unlock the keypad (if locked) and then
use the hotkey in order to start the application.
5 Start at boot. If set on Yes, the application will be started when the phone boots/starts (on power on). Only 5
applications are allowed to be started at the boot time (power on). Note: If you set to start at the boot time heavy
processing applications (java enabled or games) some of them will not start due to low memory available.
To change the general settings of the Phone Shortcuts tool use the Options->Settings command as follows:
1 Start app. then Exit. If set on Yes and you start an application from the main screen using the joystick,
associated key or the Options->Start application command, the application will be started and the Phone
Shortcuts tool will exit. If set on No, the Phone Shortcuts will not be exited after you start an application from
   the shortcuts grid.
2 Hotkey state. If this is set on Enabled – Key Clear (C) then you can start the Phone Shortcuts tool keeping the
key C (clear) pressed for the timeout you set in the Hotkey timeout field.
3 Hotkey timeout. Allows you to set the timeout for the key C (clear) you have to keep pressed in order to start the
   Phone Shortcuts tool.
4 Hotkey ignores keylock. If set on Yes, while you keep the key C (clear) pressed for its timeout, the Phone
Shortcuts tool will be started no matter if the keypad is locked or not. If set on No, you must first unlock the
keypad (if locked) and then use the key C (clear) in order to start the Phone Shortcuts tool.
5 Autostart at boot. If set on Yes, the Phone Shortcuts tool will automatically start at the boot time (phone power
   on).
If you enable hotkeys for applications, the default built-in long key press features of the phone will no longer have
effect on some phones. (eg. speed dial (key 1), voice mail box (2-9) or the profile switcher (key #) will not anymore
work). Do not enable hotkeys in the Phone Shortcuts tool for applications if you want to use the normal built-in
phone long key press features. In this case, use the long key press C (clear) to start the Phone Shortcuts tool then
select the application to start using the joystick or the associated key.
