Northern Ballet Theatre MEDIA INFORMATION Issued by Stacey Lonergan Tel: 0113 274 5355 For Immediate Release Yorkshire Young Dancers Scheme Northern Ballet Theatre (NBT) and Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) are about to recruit their next intake of Yorkshire’s most talented young people with a 7-venue tour around the region. Open Days for the Yorkshire Young Dancers Scheme (YYD) will be held between April and June in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, York, Hull, Doncaster and Northallerton, beginning in April this year, and will allow young people aged 10-17 to find out more about the scheme, meet the teachers and take part in a practical dance class. NBT and NSCD’s YYD Scheme has been established to offer young people, who are not required to have any previous dance experience, the opportunity to access high quality dance training that will equip them with the necessary skills to go on to further professional vocational dance training. The scheme is supported by the Department for Education & Skills’ Music and Dance Scheme, which provides access to the best available training for young people with exceptional talent in the UK. Annemarie Donoghue, Classical Training Manager at Northern Ballet Theatre, said: “The Open Days aim to encourage young people in Yorkshire to audition for the YYD Scheme and have the chance to attend an intensive training programme, taught by two major dance establishments. This is a fantastic opportunity and with the financial support available and the additional bonus of being able to live at home while training, it makes the programme very accessible to everyone.” To find out more about the free of charge Open Days, please contact Hannah Kirkpatrick on tel: 0113 274 5355 or email: email@example.com Ends Contact: For further information, images or to arrange an interview, please contact Stacey Lonergan or May Goodliffe on tel: 0113 274 5355 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org / email@example.com Notes to Editors 1. Contemporary Strand – The contemporary strand, gives students a thorough grounding in contemporary dance technique and introduces them to different approaches to dance performance. Contemporary dance technique classes are supported by ballet, pilates and creative workshops. 4.
