HEALING AND DELIVERANCE MacNutt (2005) The Nearly Perfect Crime-how the Church almost killed the ministry of healing. Chosen Books, Grand Rapids. USA This fascinating book reveals how the ministry of healing and deliverance as an essential part of the gospel was almost lost from the third century until the twentieth centuries and how the main stream churches have been robbed of the understanding of baptism and power of the Holy Spirit as an important witness to the world. MacNutt explains that Jesus had a passion for healing, not just performing signs and wonders as a demonstration of the Kingdom, but through deep compassion. Christ died as much for our healing as for our sins. The Great Commission was to make disciples, heal the sick and cast out demons. He shows that exorcism was part of baptism in the Early Church. The candidate was expected to speak in tongues and then partake of the Lord’s Supper. Everyone was active in ministry and had an expectation of healing. The institution of the Church under Constantine led to nominalism, the establishment of the priesthood and the misconception of suffering being a virtue. The practice of praying for the sick was replaced by visiting shrines of heroes of the faith and martyrs. Praying for healing even became the job of Royalty, who were seen as divinely anointed for the task! The ministry of healing was further eroded by cessationism and dispensationalism under the Protestant Reformers such as Calvin and JN Darby, the Enlightenment, liberal theology and post-modernism. There were examples of those gifted with healing powers and popular belief in miracles, especially amongst the illiterate poor. Since the Pentecostal revivals over the last century, the mainstream churches have been touched by the power of the Holy Spirit, healings and miracles, but these still remain a low expectation in the Western world. MacNutt gives some very interesting insights into attitudes towards healing from a Catholic perspective and his own experience as a priest after being baptised in the Holy Spirit. Anderson NT (2000) Victory over the Darkness. Monarch Books. Oxford. UK Sadly, millions of Christians live below the Level that God intended and miss their true inheritance in Christ. Hepworth K (2003) Reclaiming the Ground. Sovereign World. Tonbridge. UK- The Biblical basis and practice of breaking curses on land and cleansing buildings of evil spirits. There is a great need for the Church to be cleansed of unrighteousness and defilement so that it can experience the presence and glory of God. Freemasonry, false teaching, control and wrong attitudes can open the door to the enemy. Hepworth gives a clear and concise explanation of spiritual powers and their authority. i.e. Whilst Jesus is Lord of all, since the Fall the world has come under the control of Satan. (1 John 5:9). However, Jesus has given the believer the power to bind demonic spirits. Hepworth emphasises the importance of walking in obedience and holiness in order to have this authority and the power of repentance, blessing and forgiveness. The author explains the origin and power of curses and how land can become defiled through the shedding of innocent blood, sexual sin and idolatry and discusses the importance of consecrating ground for worship. The church needs the discernment of the Holy Spirit to detect the influence of evil spirits. There are signs which indicate their activity: heaviness, outbreaks of sickness, sudden and early death, breakdown in relationships, splits, declining numbers, financial problems, denominational pride and inability to operate in the gifts. Ken Hepworth has much experience in deliverance in working with Ellel Ministries for a number of years as well as in Bible teaching. The book includes a very useful selection of checklists and signs of demonic activity, examples, sample prayers and instructions for the use of oil and water in cleansing. Smith E. and A. (2003) Spiritual House Cleansing. Regal Books. Ventura, California. USA There is much carnality in the Church and contamination from the world in our homes. It is essential for us to consecrate our lives and our property to Christ if we are to mature, live peaceful lives honouring to God and become effective ministers of the gospel. This book provides useful strategies for purifying yourself, your family and your house, protecting them from attacks of Satan. Many people may not be aware of the ways in which Satan can trespass and rob us of God’s blessings, which are our new birth right when we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. The Smiths show us how we need to examine our attitudes, to cleanse our souls and to take authority over demonic powers. Thus we can re-establish God’s power and protection over our homes. They show us how we need pray that the Holy Spirit will give us the discernment to recognise defiled and forbidden possessions and other entry points for demonic activity. Defilement can come in many different forms-from statues and images of foreign gods, from holiday souvenirs, magic charms, sentimental attachment to photographs or letters from past relationships and soul ties, occult books, rock music or from objects that have been cursed. These items can attract and empower evil spirits, giving them the right to attack us, so they need to be removed and destroyed. A good motto is ‘If in doubt throw it out!’ Examples are given from the bible and from modern day situations with explanations of the causes and offering remedies. Particularly useful is the advice given to parents on how to take authority and proper responsibility for the spiritual environment of the home and how to honour God and encourage respect from your children. The authors also show the importance of cleansing your house from previous residents, ungodly intrusions, how to deal with other people’s property and how to sanctify objects of unknown origin. Symptoms of demonic activity are identified, such as lack of peace, sudden chronic illness, relationship problems, disturbed behaviour of children, nausea and insomnia. A useful checklist is given for identifying sources of spiritual pollution, cleansing prayers for repentance and cleansing, other resources and a glossary. The book is easy to read and very practical in application. Harris J. (1983) Freemasonry. Whitaker House, New Kensington. P.A. Harris, a former ‘Worshipful Master’ of a Masonic lodge, describes the beliefs and practices of Freemasonry, one of the most deceptive cults. He reveals its origins and history, its doctrines and goals, its secret passwords and oaths, satanic symbolism and rituals. He describes the branches of Freemasonry and the Knights Templar and details of the first three degrees. Freemasonry is a false religion which anti-Christian. It teaches that God is the ‘Grand Architect of the Universe’ and that we gain enlightenment through secret knowledge. It appeals to man’s pride and lust for power and money. This secret organisation has entangled ministers and people in secular society alike all over the world in a web of lies and satanic rituals, all of which are veiled in the language of the Bible! Kitchen Y (2002) Freemasonry-Death in the Family. Fruitful Vine Ministries Pty Ltd. Victoria. Australia. ‘Freemasonry-Death in the Family’ is a useful work book and prayer tool, which gives the reader an understanding of Freemasonry and exposes the Satanic nature of the Craft. Its purpose is not so much to give information about Freemasonry or to feed a fascination for the occult, but to provide a strategy for renouncing the curses of Freemasonry and breaking its power off ourselves and our families. It is recommended that you work through this slowly and prayerfully with others and with support from those with experience in deliverance ministry. Many people believe that once they have been saved, the curse of the law has been broken and that all their problems have been dealt with ‘under the blood’ of Jesus. Why is it then that so many Christians do not experience true freedom and blessing? Kitchen explains that many recurring problems and circumstances, such as rebellious children, poor health, accidents, mental instability and financial difficulties may be caused by this ‘mystery of iniquity. (2 Thessalonians 2:7) Generational curses may need to be broken. This book provides an excellent reference tool for pastors, counsellors and intercessors as well as Christian families. This material is not for novices as you may be playing with high levels of witchcraft. It is based on revelation from the Holy Spirit, research in the Word of God, the writings of masons and first hand involvement with people who have suffered from Masonic blood oaths taken in their family lines. The text is easy to read and clearly presented with the use of powerful images, some of which you may find disturbing! Yvonne Kitchen is powerful apostle and prophet with a call to the nations to bring the keys of deliverance to the Body of Christ. She is founder of Fruitful Vine conducts healing and deliverance seminars, apostolic and leadership training all over the world. Fruitful Vine is part of a thriving church in Melbourne, Australia, where she and her husband Philip are Senior Ministers. Kitchen Y (2005) Freemasonry-Death in the Church. 5th edition. Fruitful Vine Ministries Pty Ltd. Victoria. Australia. This is the sequel to ‘Freemasonry- Death in the Family.’ The second edition is much fuller, with a similar format with some full page colour illustrations. Kitchen explains that we are in a time of shaking as a tide of evil is sweeping the earth and trying to steal the harvest. Time is running out. We need to extricate ourselves from the slow death and chaos brought by Freemasonry. This is the hour to rise up and break the Church free from of the witchcraft of Freemasonry so that it can come into blessing, life and revival. The Church is moving into a new era of fullness in the power of the 5-fold ministry gifts, signs and wonders like the Early Church of Acts. The ministries of apostle and prophet need to be re-laid as the foundations and the false foundations stones of Freemasonry destroyed using specific strategies and renunciations. False covenants need to be broken e.g. the covenant with salt and white wine, a substitute for the blood covenant of communion, the false marriage covenant of Masons causing the spirits of divorce to operate and the deception of the keys of salvation through Peter on the Roman Church. The book exposes the fact that Freemasonry is based not on Solomon’s temple of apostasy but Herod’s temple of death and a false tabernacle, built on false apostles and prophets, for the ‘Grand Architect of the Universe’ to dwell instead of Jesus the true the King of Glory. It shows the ritual death, devastation and bloodshed that come into the Church, if we do not destroy Freemasonry’s stronghold. The Church is being mobilised to warfare. We need a release from legalism and religion. We need revelation from the Holy Spirit and freedom from the spirit of reason and the pride of knowledge. This book is an essential work book for pastors, leaders, intercessors and those establishing ministries who want to cut their local churches, denominations and communities free from Freemasonry. It is recommended that it be read with prayer and fasting.
