Instructions to Apply for GUPS Permit for Utility Facility Encroachment Application
The following links contains instructions on how to get started on the GUPS system. Each District office may provide training classes on the different permit types periodically. Please contact the District Utility Engineer in your respected area for possible training availability. The sequence in order to utilize the GUPS system is as follows: 1) GDOT has created a training site and a help site to get you familiar to the GUPS system. The following link on the GUPS Website Locations will allow you to get familiar with the system before actually summiting a permit application.
2) After working with the above training site the Utility Owner must first apply for
membership in GUPS. To apply for GUPS membership click of the following link for information on the Process to Apply for Membership and follow the step by step instructions.
3) You will then have to wait until you receive an E-mail conformation from GDOT. The
E-mail will contain information on your membership, privileges and restrictions. It will also include you membership number, username and password.
4) Once you have received conformation you will be ready to apply for an GUPS utility
permit. Just remember a few things:
A. The username and password is case sensitive. It has to be exactly as it was entered into the system. B. If you do not have all of your information on your permit you can save the information currently placed in GUPS by clicking on the save and exit buttons. The information will remain in the system for 60 days before being removed. Just remember the permit number. C. Once submitted if there is a problem with your permit the District can re-submit the application back to you to be revised and then resubmitted back to the District for review. D. You will still be notified by the same method as today (mail or phone) once the permit is approved or denied.
