Soccer star and Xbox Action @ Joondalup Library
Around 20 excited teenagers came to the Joondalup Library to meet Jamie Harnwell, Perth Glory Captain recently. The teens began arriving early to check out the action. Soccer star, Jamie Harnwell spent time playing games with the participants, signing autographs, awarding prizes and chatting with the teens. He was an excellent ambassador for Perth Glory, readily taking time out from his busy training schedule to appear at the Joondalup library. Joondalup Library staged the event to highlight the addition of a range of new features to its teen section. There is a new Xbox 360 gaming console for free use and a well-stocked Graphic Novel collection. These new facilities are part of a project to refurbish the youth areas at all of the Joondalup Library branches. “It’s important to us that teenagers feel our libraries are worth a visit for leisure or homework purposes. The upgrading of the teenage sections are planned to make our services more attractive to youth in our community,” a spokesperson for Joondalup Libraries said.
