"%1 is not a valid Win32 application" error
message when trying to launch ServicePortal
On trying to launch any ServicePortal page, incluidng the configuration pages, the browser
instead returns HTTP 500 Error with the message "%1 is not a valid Win32 application".
This can occur after a new installation or upgrade on a 64 bit server that is running ASP.NET
in 32 bit mode. The Service Desk installer will automatically regsiter the ServicePortal
application in IIS as 64 bit, going against the 32 bit mode configuration on the server.
The solution is to re-register ASP.NET 2.0 in either 32 bit or 64 bit mode. For more
information and instructions for re-registering for both 32 bit or 64 bit mode see the following
Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894435.
