							MVMS E-School News December 3, 2009

You are receiving the E School News early as a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, December 4. CPRD is having a dance tomorrow night at the Armory from 7-9 pm. Student ID and $5 are needed for admission. The Newberg Youth Abroad Group is hosting a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday from 9am-4pm, in the CVMS commons.

It was Civil War Day at MVMS today. Yes, lots of orange, black, green, yellow with a few other colors mixed in. On Monday, Mr. Willing’s afternoon CORE class began a Beaver/Duck coin drive that ended today to help with the MV Giving Tree. A total of $447.58 was donated with the Beaver’s winning by $21.06. Students sporting the Beaver colors were dismissed early from school and received a piece of licorice. Thank you to all who donated and good luck to the Beavers and Ducks! December 1 was a busy day with activities and deadlines. *The last day to purchase a Yearbook with your student’s name engraved on the front cover was December 1. Yearbooks without a name on the front cover cost $20 and are available until they are sold out. *DC Kids met on December 1 after picking up wreaths that they had sold. *December 1 was also partnership night between Burgerville and Mt. View DC Kids. This was a fundraiser where a portion of the sales went to the DC Kids.

Rule of the Week: Lost items Lost and Found – As you’ve heard before, we have two Lost and Founds. The one in the Commons is for larger items and the one across from the Office is for smaller items. Before Christmas Break, please make sure you check both areas for anything you may have lost. After the break, the items in the Commons will be donated to charity. The lost and found across from the office could change daily. Lost locks and Textbooks – You are responsible for any locker locks and textbooks and/or Library books that are checked out to you. If you loose one, you are responsible for payment. Locks cost $7 and textbooks could cost up to $60. Loss of your free time – Time is an incredibly valuable resource. When you misbehave, we will often take your free time away from you. This could be your free time before school, passing time, your lunch time or your time after school. In order not to loose this time, behave and get your work in on time. Writers Group will meet after school today. One of their tasks will be judging a writing contest. MV Book Fair begins on Thursday, December 10, and runs through Tuesday, December 15, in our Library. Lunch time and after school is the time to come in and get some of your holiday shopping done. We hope to see you! Students will be challenged next week on their geography during the Geography Bee which will start in their CORE classes with the finalists taking a test in our Lecture Room later in the week. February 17 will be the immunization exclusion day this year. The county will mail out the exclusion notices on February 3. So that your student is not excluded, please make sure they are up-to-date on the following shots: Students in the 7th & 8th grade are required to have one dose of Tdap, if it's been at least 5 years since the last tetanus-containing vaccine. All Students: 5 Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTaP) 1 Tdap 4 Polio 1 Varicella (chickenpox) OR have had the disease 2 Measels * 1 Mumps * 1 Rubella * 3 Hepatitis B *also known as MMR
