MetroPCS™ Celebrates Florida Growth
Wireless carrier celebrates third year of offering service MIAMI, November 18, 2004 – MetroPCS, the only local wireless service provider that offers unlimited local and nationwide long distance calling for a flat rate of $40 a month with no contract, is celebrating its continued success as the company prepares for its third anniversary of bringing service to south Florida in January. In just three short years, the company has successfully penetrated the wireless market in Port Charlotte, Fort Myers, Naples, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. MetroPCS also launched service in the Florida Keys in September of 2004. As a result, a recent Telephia study ranked MetroPCS second behind Cingular in terms of the number of local customers and market share in Miami. “Over the past three years, MetroPCS has continued to make improvements to the quality of its service to new and existing customers,” said Frank Bell, vice president and general manager, MetroPCS Florida Operations. “Since our 2002 launch, we have seen tremendous growth in the south Florida market and are well poised for further growth in 2005.” Since January of this year, MetroPCS has installed a fourth switch, which provided the necessary bandwidth to launch service to the Florida Keys in September. MetroPCS received a strong response from customers since entering southern Florida and expanding to the West Coast of Florida. Expanding to the Florida Keys has enabled the company to provide MetroPCS customers who live, work and play in this area with this unique service plan. MetroPCS originally opened for business in south Florida with eight retail stores in January 2002. Since that time, the company has added an additional twelve stores. In addition to these stores and service centers, consumers can purchase MetroPCS phones and service at more than 410 authorized dealer locations throughout the region, including Office Depot and Navarro Discount Pharmacy. Store locations and coverage maps are available at www.metropcs.com. An additional component to MetroPCS’ success has been the dedication the company shows to the south Florida community through its philanthropic and civic endeavors. This was especially necessary in the wake of the wrath that Florida has endured in the latter part of this year. In the wake of all the hurricanes and tropical storms, MetroPCS announced that its customers’ service in south Florida was maintained regardless of account status for four days. The company played

To complement its civic outreach, in 2003 MetroPCS developed a Community Scholars Program. The program provides college scholarships to high school seniors in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties who have made a difference in their hometowns through community service. Last year, MetroPCS awarded fifteen $1,000 scholarships to students in these regions. MetroPCS’ 2005 Community Scholars Program is currently underway.
