The format will be judge using the Skyhoundz PAWS Scoring System with a maximum of 40 points or 10 points within each of the following four categories: Presentation, Athleticism, Wow Factor, and Success. USDDN Toss & Fetch: A 90-second event using 1 disc. Points are awarded for catches made within one of the 4 scoring zones based on the most trailing paw (10-20, 20-30, 30-40, & 40-50 yd.). Points are 1, 2, 3, & 4 respectively with a ½ pt bonus for each catch made with all paws in the air and a ½ pt bonus for each catch made within the Challenge Zone. One paw inbounds/on the line when caught required to count. When trailing paw is on a Zone Line, Next Zone is scored. The best 5 points scored contributes to the total score. Max of 25 points. Refer to www.usddn.org for more rule information. Extreme Distance: Canines must not cross the throwing line until the disc leaves the thrower's hand. Thrower may not step on or over the line at the time of the throw. Catches will be measured from the start line to the point where the rear-most leg of the canine contacts the ground at the time of the catch. Successful tipped catches will be counted as being caught at the point where the canine first made contact with the disc. The Hyperflite Competition Standard, Fastback or Hero disc under 115 grams must be used. Competitors receive three attempts. 60 sec time limit. Competitors may change discs between throws. Team Spot Landing: The game is similar to individual Spot Landing, but a team will be made up from three dogs and three handlers*. Each dog/handler pair will have a specific circle to throw to in order to score points (5, 10, 15 points). A 4th circle will be designated as a Bonus Circle (25 points) to which one of the dog/handler pairs will attempt a successful catch. Selection of who is throwing to what circles is made by the team in advance. Points are awarded for catches made with all paws in one of the 4 scoring circles. Circles varying in size & field position. 1 point awarded for catches outside of circles if an attempt was made towards their scoring circle. Each dog must clear the field before the next pair can attempt a throw/catch. Tie breaker determined by the time to complete the 4 throws/catches. Time stops after the fourth catch or lack thereof. Flydisc Relay: The game is similar to FlyBall but with a disc, and without the hurdles. Three dogs and three handlers per team*. Each pair competes consecutively. The event is scored on a time trial basis. Time starts when 1st dog crosses the starting line. Time stops when the last of the 3 dogs returns to the start line with the disc. One pair must complete a successful 10 yd zone catch and return, the 2nd pair a 20 yd zone catch and return, and the 3rd pair a 30 yd catch & return. The next dog cannot start until the previous dog returns. If a dog or handler faults, they must go to the end of the line and try again until successful. Time limit of 2 minutes. * Team events will be made up of one dog/handler pair from different clubs attempting to have teams of one dog/handler from each of the three levels being able to match their abilities to the task at hand. These teams will be determined the day of the event. Make sure you have identified your appropriate level for both Toss & Fetch type events and Freestyle on the registration form, either B (Beginner), A (Intermediate), or AA (Advanced). See www.skyhoundz.com for more detail description of the guidelines for the formats listed above. 4th Can-Am Disc Dog Games August 15-16, 2009 Broome County Fairgrounds: Whitney Point, NY Clinics- An overview of clinic choices Throwing Disc & w/Dog- Clinician, Jeff Perry, will help participants with technique for toss & fetch. This clinic will start with handlers only, moving quickly to adding your favorite pooch. Discs types will be discussed as well, so bring your favorite discs to throw and others if you have them! Feel free to identify specific issues you have with throwing &/or your pooch. Routine Flow & Music – Okay, you’ve got that freestyle routine and it never seems to go as smooth as you thought it would. Perhaps it’s the flow of the routine or your music selection; planning and executing good flow with your dog will be the focus of this clinic. Vaulting – Clinician will show participants training techniques to get their dog vaulting off of different parts of their body. This is not for the weak of heart or should we say body … bring your vest (we should have some on hand for sale) and long (non-slip) shorts for this clinic. Freestyle Review – Have you ever asked the questions … what went wrong with that trick? … why did my dog bulk or misread the move? If you said yes to these or other similar situations, come to this clinic to present your issues or routine for the clinicians to review and provide another set of eyes to point you and your pooch in the right direction. Tricks and Releases – Working on medium to high degree of difficulty type tricks, Disc Dog World Champion, Jeff Perry, will teach you some tricks that you might not have seen before or help you perfect the trick you have dreamed of performing. Feel free to identify any throw you have difficulty perfecting, dreamed up, or is a twist on an existing trick. Freestyle Set Building – Have you ever had the issue with transitioning to the next throw or set of throws and/or perfecting certain throws to your pooch? If you said yes to these or other similar situations, come to this clinic to present your issues for the clinicians to review and provide another set of eyes to point you and your pooch in the right direction. The plan is to present as many of these clinics as time allows; every attempt will be made to give you your top choices and the clinicians identifies. We will run one clinic at a time over 30 minutes to 1 hour time slots. 4th Can-Am Disc Dog Games August 15-16, 2009 Broome County Fairgrounds: Whitney Point, NY Additional Information and Other Activities Price Guide Clinics: (Sign-in, Registration, & payment at event) Specific Clinics: o Members- Free o Non-Members- $5.00 per clinic Price is per handler, per clinic Private & Semi-Private Lessons with Jeff Perry o Private - $25/half hour o Semi-Private (two people) - $15/person/half hour Fun Games: (Club T-shirt Day!
