Please refer to the calendar on the left and enter the dates in your diary. Students in year five should have received a separate diary with dates for events of significance to them. If you have child in Yr 5 and have not yet received a calendar of events, please make contact with your child’s teacher or the front office. At its latest meeting the Board set the fees for the 2008 school year. The Board took into account several factors when determining the fee structure for next year, these included: last year’s increase, the current healthy enrolment figures and the need to ensure our income enables us to keep up with general price increases. After discussion it was decided that fees for each student shall increase by $80 per annum ($20 per term). The Board is confident that this shall allow the school to continue to deliver existing programs as well as service the debt to be incurred by the capital development. The Annual General Meeting shall be held on November 20. If you would like to nominate for election as a Board Member, please return the slip below. The Board meets once a month on a Wednesday evening from 7:00 till 9:00 at the latest. If you would like to find out more about the Board please come and see me or give me a call. The Board has also been discussing the lack of a crossing around the school and the need for one on the park side of the school – especially for children going over for sport training after school. I have met with paid and elected representatives from the Council in the hope of finding a solution to the problem. The issue holding up progress is the lack of a footpath on the eastern side of the road. A crossing needs to link one pedestrian thoroughfare with another. A footpath needs to be built before a crossing can be constructed. Yours sincerely, Sean Hill ACTING PRINCIPAL School Board Nomination 1 Mulga Street, Seacombe Gardens SA 5047 Phone: 8296 3928 Fax: 8377 2232 contact@stellama.adl.catholic.edu.au www.stellama.adl.catholic.edu.au I would like to nominate as member of the Stella Maris School Board beginning at the commencement of the 2008 school year. Blessed are those who stand up to cry out against injustice, and to achieve through their words and their deeds, equal rights on this earth. Blessed are those who offer comfort to exiles and refuge to those who are entrapped by wars. Blessed are those who give their time and their goods so that bread may become daily bread for all those who are starved.
