MICROTEST Interpreter Ensure that the latest update CD has been installed. You should work from the main UNIX fileserver. Users require SA or MIQUEST Clerk Status. Note: Information should be entered in ‘UPPERCASE’ Online Help: Press F10 from anywhere within PM2 to show a context sensitive help screen. Press F10 a second time to open the online manual. Running MIQUEST Queries: The MIQUEST search engine is located in the „search‟ menu under „MIQUEST searching‟. Note: This MIQUEST process may take anything from several minutes to several hours, depending upon your patient population, the number of queries and their complexity. If you are running more than a dozen or so queries and your patient population is over 5000, it is best to choose a time when the system will be quiet for a few hours in order to reduce system lag. If the system becomes too slow while running MIQUEST, you will have to phone microtest and ask them to kill the process (helpline no 0845 345 1608). Cleaning up the system Note: It is best if only one set of queries is held on the system at a time, as this makes it easier to keep track of work in progress. A good housekeeping policy, therefore, is to delete any old queries from the system before starting with new ones. You will not normally have been sent new queries if there were problems with your old ones, so no data will be lost. Deleting old queries In the MIQUEST menu, go to „setup‟. Select the „Purge MIQUEST‟ command – you will be asked whether you really wish to do this – highlight „yes‟ and press return. The system is now ready to take new queries. Exit out to the main miquest menu using F1. Load the queries from the floppy disc:  Insert the floppy disk into the main server disk drive  Select Import Disk Queries from the main MIQUEST searching menu and press return

Download the authorised reports onto a floppy disc:  Select „Return Responses‟ from the MIQUEST searching menu and press return.  You will be shown a description of the query set you have just run.  Press return to begin the downloading process. You will be prompted to insert a blank disk into the server drive.  You may use the disk which the queries were sent on if you wish. o If you wish to use the original disk, select „format disk‟ and press return. (If this returns an error, you will need to format the disk on another machine) o If you are using a fresh disk, insert it into the server drive. Select „continue‟ and press return. The system will say „checking disk‟, followed by „copying files to disk‟ and „checking copied files‟ several times. This may take several minutes.   Once the reports have downloaded a prompt of the enquirers details will appear on screen. Press space to complete the process. You will be returned to the response menu. Press F1 to exit out.

Please return the floppy disk containing the query responses to your PRIMIS facilitator. DO NOT delete completed queries from the system at this stage – it is best to wait until the next time you want to run fresh queries. This will ensure that there is a backup copy in case of error / loss. Returning the MIQUEST responses to PCCAG via E-mail In your E-mail in-box select New Message. In the To: box type data@glospccag.nhs.uk Either click on the small paper clip icon on the toolbar at the top of the screen or click on the Insert menu and then File. Then select the ???\ drive from the Look in box. To select all the files which end in CSV, first click on the csv file at the top of the list and then hold down the CTRL button and, using the left mouse button, click on each of the csv files until all are highlighted. Now click on Insert. Your egg timer will appear for a short while whilst it selects all 17 and places them in the “Attach” box within the email. (You may not be able to see the file extension, i.e. CSV. If this is the case select the files that have an Excel icon alongside each of the filenames) Ensuring you still have the PCCAG Data address in the “To” box at the top of the email click on Send. It may take a short time to return to your in-box.
