INTRODUCTION
Dear Rhode Island Breeder The Rhode Island Club of Australia Inc is proud to send you the Schedule for the most significant show in the Club’s history. We have the honour of trying to fulfil the ideals and dreams of foundation members who formed the Club on 10 July 1959. The Club has held a National Show every year since. It is rare for a specialist breed poultry Club to have been able to achieve such continuity. We invite you to come to Dubbo at the end of May to celebrate what Rhode Island breeders have achieved over those 50 years. Please make every effort to join in the celebration. Owing to the long term service to the Club of our late President, Fred Eldering, the Club has dedicated this show to his memory. It was his dearest wish that he would be at the helm of the Club for these celebrations. The Recorder gives you all the details of accommodation recommended and information about the program for the two-day show. Look through the schedule carefully and follow all instructions for entry. So, please be there so that we can celebrate together.

President

Note on the coloured plates After a long search for appropriate art work for this Show we have chosen from two historic sources The White Rose Comb female is from a coloured plate in Poultry Tribune – a th monthly magazine in the USA in the early 20 Century. The Red male is from the plate in the first edition of Blue Ribbon Reds - a quite famous publication of the Rhode Island Red Club of America in the st 1940s. He has been “coloured up” to be more acceptable to 21 Century expectations. Both are by the celebrated poultry artist, authority and Rhode Island devotee – A O Schilling. These paintings inspired the first breeders all over the world and it is appropriate to look at them again now. .

DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIP
The Club wishes to acknowledge the donations and sponsorship received

for the Fred Eldering Memorial Show 50 Anniversary National Show. However, as has been the case throughout the Club’s history, the Club is very much a self-funded organization. We would never have survived without the generous support received from our members. At this Schedule goes to print we want to record those members who have given specific support for this Show and to express the Club’s thanks to them.
