MUNLOCHY Animal Aid on the Black Isle once again has a full house. The past few months have seen a steady stream of animals, particularly cats which have been brought in after the death of an owner. “These animals really suffer badly,” explained Iona Henderson, who runs the centre with a team of volunteers. “They miss their owners and of course the quiet and secure lifestyle they were used to. “Finding new homes for middle-aged cats and dogs is not easy. But they can adjust and they deserve a chance.” One of these cats, Puton, is about seven years old and was very much loved by his late owner. He’s a very outgoing character and likes attention, but if he’s had enough he will let you know by giving you a hard smack! Munlochy Animal Aid current-

ly has a number of cats that need a new home. “In the kennels, we also have a few dogs that need some extra attention and some training,” Iona revealed. “With a wee bit of work they could be lovely pets. "Sandy, for example, is a lovely Labrador cross and is a young dog. He featured in the Highland News, when he was found abandoned in Inverness. He has been with us for a long time now. He still does not walk on a lead, but he is affectionate and enjoys running around and playing with toys. “He is definitely making progress and will be an interesting challenge for the right person,” Iona observed. Laddie is a rough collie about nine years old. He also lost his owner, but has settled into kennels very well – maybe too well! “Although we all love him, we realise he should move on,” Iona commented. “Ideally we’d like

Puton likes to let you know who’s boss!. him to go to an older person or couple. He’s not really suitable for a family. He gets very jealous and protective so he would prefer a quiet household. “He enjoys walks and will play with a ball for hours. He also loves chasing birds and aeroplanes!” All the cats and dogs at Munlochy Animal Aid are looking for a new, loving home. If you can give the time, commitment and love these animals need, why not visit the centre or just go along and walk a dog. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 10.30-11am and 6.15-7pm and on Saturday from 11am-3pm. Visitors at other times are welcome by appointment. For details, call 01463 811722.

Sandy is looking for someone who is not scared of a challenge.
