Building Regulations Review of Part M (Access for People with Disabilities)
The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government Mr. Dick Roche T.D., announces the commencement of a comprehensive review of Part M (Access for People with Disabilities) of the Building Regulations 2000 and the 2000 edition of the related Technical Guidance Document M. This review is in accordance with the commitment given in the Outline Sectoral Plan for the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government published under Section 36 of the Disability Act 2005. In response to feedback from public consultation on the Outline Sectoral Plan, the Minister now invites: (1) identification of those elements in the Part M Regulations and Technical Guidance Document (TGD) M which require amendment/revision; and (2) specific proposals for changes in the elements identified at (1) above. Relevant submissions will form an important input to the drafting of proposals for amendment of the Part M Regulations and revision of TGD M to be published, for public / industry comment, in 2006. Guidelines on the format for submitting comments are available on the Department’s web site www.environ.ie “Part M (Access for People with Disabilities) - Review 2005 - submissions format”. These guidelines are also available, in html format, on the National Disability Authority’s web site www.nda.ie. Hard copies can be obtained from the address below.
