Live Online Event Analysis of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, Part II: LIHTC and Housing Bond Modernization Friday, September 5, 2008 60 minutes beginning 2:03pm ET / 11:03am PT Description The enactment of the landmark Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 last month represents a great victory for the affordable housing and community development industry. The law not only helps to stabilize the nation’s housing, mortgage, credit and financial markets, but also provides affordable housing and community development organizations new opportunities to build, rehabilitate, and preserve affordable housing across the country. Part II of this two-part session will provide a brief overview of the new law’s nearly two-dozen provisions modernizing the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and tax-exempt housing bond programs. Also discover how the new law affects multifamily HUD and USDA housing programs when combined with LIHTC. Learn how these changes will make it easier and financially more feasible to finance a wider type of affordable housing developments.
