Analysis of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, Part II: LIHTC and Housing Bond Modernization

Description The enactment of the landmark Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 last month represents a great victory for the affordable housing and community development industry. The law not only helps to stabilize the nation’s housing, mortgage, credit and financial markets, but also provides affordable housing and community development organizations new opportunities to build, rehabilitate, and preserve affordable housing across the country. Part II of this two-part session will provide a brief overview of the new law’s nearly two-dozen provisions modernizing the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and tax-exempt housing bond programs. Also discover how the new law affects multifamily HUD and USDA housing programs when combined with LIHTC. Learn how these changes will make it easier and financially more feasible to finance a wider type of affordable housing developments. What are Live Online Events?
Online events involve participants gathering at a specific time on a specific Website to participate in an event, usually from their own desks. The visual part of the presentation appears on participants’ computer screens. This can involve slides, documents, web tours, and software demonstrations. The sound for an online event is handled with a telephone conference call. This enables verbal dialogue, questions, and answers. To participate, you may use a PC or Mac computer. You must have a Web browser, and Internet Explorer v. 5 or higher is recommended. You must be able to be on the Internet and speak on the phone at the same time.
