Phil McGrath Practical M&E Experience - CV supplement. 1969 – 1972 - Drake & Scull Ltd. Trained in Electrical Engineering design including controls. Built control panels for M&E systems. Spent “apprenticeship” on various sites in the Manchester area learning electrical installation. Trained on using Hevacomp and in M&E draughting. 1972 – 1975 - S Barratt & Co. Ltd. Employed as assistant design engineer on M&E systems although majored in Electrical. Designed and prepared tender documents for Manchester Fire station re-wire. Profitably managed all contracts I won. Feb 91 – Jan 92 - MJN Ltd. – Subsidiary of Staveley Industries Plc Designed and managed the electrical installations of many commercial buildings including of St Martins College of Art & Design, London, including the Mechanical control systems. Set up the maintenance of M&E&PH systems. Involved on site from time to time carrying out the installation. Jan 92 - June 93 - JE Greatorex & Partners (Premises Aftercare Ltd.) Assisted in the design and Project Managed the installations of various M&E systems including CHP systems for a variety of clients, including Pembrokeshire NHS Trust. Advised clients on Energy conservation and management. Jan 92 - June 93 - The Capita Group Project managed M&E maintenance for many blue chip contracts including writing a complete M&E&PH maintenance specification which I subsequently marketed to many clients including British Rail, Rail track, and Sun Alliance. Advised clients on Energy conservation and management. June 93 - March 1997 - The MDA Group UK Continued to project managed M&E maintenance for many blue chip contracts, which followed me to MDA including using my M&E&PH maintenance specification. Advised clients on Energy conservation and management. Sept 2002 to Jan 08 - Director of The CHS Group – Total Facilities Services Ltd Advised many clients on Mech and Elec installations including CHP. Advised clients on Energy conservation and management. March 08 to date - National Blood Service Project managed the completion of the M&E services installation for the new £65 million development at Filton for NBS including fault finding and resolution on BMS controls and various Mechanical and Electrical issues. During my M&E career I have kept abreast as much as possible on 17 th Edition IEE regs and other relevant regulations including H&S. As well as an experienced project manager, I am also very much a hands on person, and can confidently carry out both M&E installations. I have also designed and installed many domestic and small commercial Heating installations in my spare time.
