Introduction to Retail Management Introduction to an in-depth study of the retail industry. Students learn to manage all areas of a retail business and gain the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in this competitive industry. Retail Buying and Merchandise Management This course is designed to provide a complete overview of the buying and merchandising functions in today’s competitive retail environment. The quantitative and analytical aspect of retail strategy will be presented. Power of Retail Brands This course provides an in-depth analysis of retail branding techniques. Retail branding strategy will be discussed, including all aspects of branding from retail store marketing posters to in-store brand representatives. Students will deconstruct branding methods in order to comprehend overall brand strategy. Applied In-Store Visual Strategy This course will provide students with an understanding of how retailers use visual display to gain retail market share. Students will examine various types of visual display and how this impacts upon the retail business environment. Leadership Strategies in Retail Management This course presents various leadership methods used in the industry to develop retail personnel. Students will examine a retail company, comparing and contrasting various retail leadership techniques. Topical Issues in Retailing Possible Areas: E-tailing, Catalogue, The Evolution of American Malls, and others. Career Development in Retailing This course is designed to provide students with an overview of careers in the retailing sector. Students will work the instructor to construct a cover letter and resume focusing on retailing and leadership. For those already employed in retailing, this course will provide strategies for job transitions and how be competitive in today’s retail job market. Retail Customer Service This course provides students with customer service skills which result in increased profitability and customer loyalty. Students will analyze industry examples of how retailers achieve goals from store level to corporate objectives.
