Participating team representatives and dignitaries are asked to report to PAC Equipment Desk by 7:10pm for direction One player from each team is asked to participate in the opening ceremonies wearing team warm-ups that will identify which team they are representing Each player will be matched up with a youth female basketball player to walk out and stand with during the opening ceremonies We are asking each team to bring a team or school t-shirt to give to the young player to wear at the opening ceremonies. Please ensure the size is Adult medium. The t-shirts can be brought with the team representative when they report at 7:10pm, or immediately after the game for the quarter final #3 competing teams Teams competing in the 8:00pm game will receive a full 20 minute warm up

MEDIA CONFERENCE & ACCREDITATION

30 media kits are required for distribution at the media conference and the championship site. CIS policy 20.40.3.6.2: When indicated that attendance and participation in the opening media conference of a CIS Championship is mandatory, participating teams whose head coach and athlete (minimum one) fail to attend as scheduled will be assessed a fine in the amount of $250.00 for the coach not attending and $250.00 for the athlete not attending. Teams will not be fined if unable to attend the Wednesday Media Conference but are encouraged to attend if have arrived in Saskatoon. If able to attend, teams are asked to send their head coach and one player, preferably an AllCanadian or team captain. Media Accreditation Media Accreditation applications will be accepted until Monday, March 3. An application must be completed and returned by fax 306-966-6502 or by email to nicole.josin@usask.ca. A photo pass ID will be given out to all media members. To assist in the processing of the media pass, please email a photo in jpeg format to nicole.josin@usask.ca Please ensure that the image

size is no larger than 500K. The form can be found in the media section of the championship website. (www.cisport.ca/e/championships/w_basketball/2008/media.cfm) Wireless Internet Access Wireless Internet is available throughout the PAC to the media. Upon arrival at the championship media room, help will be given to access the Internet by College of Kinesiology Computer Support Staff. Interview Accessibility Coaches and athletes will be available for an interview upon request five minutes following the end of the game. All media is asked to meet at the designated area (just outside the media room) for a CIS Championship Committee member to gather names of those wanted for an interview. That athlete or coach will be brought out to the designated area for an interview. Any requests outside of a game context must be made through Sports Information Director, Nicole Josin. 9. CHAMPIONSHIP HOTEL

Participating teams, All-Canadians and visiting coaches only: Hilton Garden Inn Host will provide, free of charge, 10 room nights to participating teams at the Championship hotel. (Equivalent of 10 rooms for 1 night.) Rooms will be credited to the team’s bill. Sufficient rooms have been held at the Hilton Garden in for all visiting teams, All-Canadians and visiting coaches. Teams are asked to confirm their booking only after having qualified for the Championship. Shuttle Service • Host will provide, free of charge, all onsite ground transportation for all participating teams as a personalized shuttle service for the duration of the tournament • Airport pickup and drop off will be provided • Shuttle service will only be offered if the need is indicated on the Team Information Form • VIP shuttle will be available from the Hilton Garden Inn to the PAC • Dispatch located at Volunteer Break Room at the PAC (306-966-1110) during the Championship • Shuttle service is available to non-participating coaches if requested in advance. University of Saskatchewan and Huskie Athletics will not take responsibility for team uniforms. Sunday, March 9 # 10 - 10:00am – BL deliver four tubs N, O, P, Q Therapy/Medical Services The following information will clarify the medical and therapy services available during your stay at the University of Saskatchewan: Services Provided The Huskie Head Therapist, physiotherapist and/or student trainers will be present at all games. Student Trainers will be assigned to each team. The role of the student trainer is to act as a medical liaison for each team. If requested, the student trainer can provide pre-participation taping, stretching, etc. The Huskie Head Therapist or a student trainer will discuss the emergency action protocol with the visiting medical staff prior to competition. All training supplies (tape, tensors, etc) must be provided by the visiting team or a charge of cost recovery of supplies will apply. The following emergency equipment will be on site at the PAC in the gym: Ice and ice bags Crutches Splints Knee immobilizers, slings Scoop stretcher Blanket, towels A hydroculator, hot packs, covers/towels will be available in room 195 at the PAC Hot and cold tubs are available in room 190.4 at the PAC Room 195 at the PAC is available for pre and post participation activities such as taping, stretching, etc. This room has treatment tables, hot packs, ice machine and a sink. The Huskie Athletics Sports Medicine Centre is located in Room 190 of the PAC. Joanna Niemczewska of the Calgary Dinos is the 2004-05 recipient of the Mary Lyons Award as CIS player of the year. She becomes the first back-to-back winner of the award since Jenny Cartmell of Alberta in 1998-99 and 1999-00. The 5-foot-10, fourth-year right-side hitter finished second in the Canada West conference this season with 276 kills, 3.54 kills per game, and 4.10 points per game. The 21-year-old led the Dinos to a perfect 20-0 regular season record and the Canada West playoff title, one year after helping the Dinos capture their first CIS banner in 10 seasons. In 2003-04, Niemczewska was named CIS player of the year, CIS female athlete of the year, first team All-Canadian, and CIS championship all-star. A native of Warsaw, Poland who moved to Calgary at the age of four, the social science student comes from an athletic family. Her father played on the Warsaw University basketball team, while her mother was a member and captain of Poland’s national student volleyball team.
