Application for Feline Adoption

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The adopter(s) or others in the household who are or may be immune compromised for any reason or allergic should consult with their physician and act on that physician’s advice in any decision to adopt a cat. Feline Rescue is not and cannot be responsible for any adverse outcomes associated with such situations.

I have read and understood this application and the accompanying adoption policies and notices and have truthfully provided information herein. Signed _______________________________________ Date______________________________

Adoption Application Process Feline Rescue will review each adoption application and will interview each applicant, by phone or in person. If the prospective adopter seems like a likely fit for a particular cat, we will arrange a visit to meet the cat at his/her foster home. Our foster parents are central in this process because they know the foster cat very well and can advise about the best placement. Our goal is to place each cat and kitten with the adopter who is the best fit. At times, we have more than one qualified applicant interested in adopting a particular cat or kitten. To determine the best placement, we consider a number of factors, including, but not limited to the following: (i) the amount of time the cat or kitten will be alone each day; (ii) whether a kitten will be adopted with another kitten or alone; (iii) other pets in the household; (iv) whether the cat or kitten will be “indoor only;” (v) special needs of the particular cat or kitten; and (vi) experience of the adopter. If, after meeting the cat, the prospective adopter wants to proceed, our foster coordinator and the foster parents will consult to determine next steps. Adoption Fees Our adoption fees range from $50 to $125 per cat or kitten and are based on several factors: (i) characteristics of the cat of kitten (age, breed, breed mix, etc.); (ii) input costs (e.g. special medical treatments); (iii) special circumstances of the adopter; (iv) special circumstances of the cat (special needs, length of time in foster care, etc.); and (v) if a cat is being adopted along with another cat (or kitten). Under special circumstances, we may subsidize or waive a fee. All fees are applied to the charitable purposes of rescuing, caring for and placing cats and kittens. Feline Rescue is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We gratefully accept donations from adopters and others. Placement of Cat or Kitten Feline Rescue works diligently to make sure each adoption is a “fit” for the cat and the adopter, and we provide ongoing support to our adopters after a cat is adopted. (We are always available to answer any question you might have.) This helps ensure that the adoption will be a success. However, if the placement doesn’t work, we will take back the cat.
