San Rafael 4-H November Newsletter
The San Rafael 4-H Club meetings are held at First Congregational Church of San Rafael, 8 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael (in the Oak Room – it is the room to your right as you enter the church courtyard). [Take the Civic Center Exit from Highway 101. The church is on the west side of the freeway]. PLEASE check with Caryl to verify that you have turned in all the forms 4-H requires and that you have paid your membership fees. The Club has already written a check to 4-H to cover the fees for everyone (whether you have paid the Club or not) so please reimburse the Club Treasury if you have not yet paid. THANKS! Community Service Project: McNear Beach Clean-Up 10:00 am Our club has officially adopted McNear's Beach in San Rafael and be holding 2-3 beach clean-up days this year. Our first clean up day will be Sunday, November 8, at 10am. Ranger Kirk Shroeder will meet us to educate us about the importance of beach clean up-it helps the beach, the bay, the ocean, and marine animals. He will provide us with the materials we will need for beach clean up. Come dress to work and get a little dirty. Please email Alexandra Matthews to let her know if you are coming. Monday, November 9 San Rafael 4-H Club Business/Arts & Crafts Meeting 7:00 – 8:15 pm We will be planning our December Community Service Project at the Business Meeting. We will also be learning about different ways you can participate in Presentation Day (typically held in February. If you competed in Presentation Day last year, please bring your presentation to share or be ready to tell what you did. We will have an Arts and Crafts Project following the Business Meeting.

Community Service Project: SOUP - The Bowl That Keeps Feeding Fresh Starts Cooking School, Homeward Bound, 1385 N. Hamilton Parkway, Novato from, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. For a nominal fee you can have bread and a wonderful bowl of homemade soup in a handmade bowl, which you get to keep. All proceeds go to Homeward Bound, a local shelter for families in crisis. Our members can help in a range of ways – attend the event, make soup [Contact Michelle], decorate soup bowls [Contact Kebby ]. The link to event details is: Monday, November 16 Dog Care and Training Project Meeting, 7:00-8:15 pm Leaders will email you with information about this meeting. Monday, November 23 Rabbit, Pet, Poultry Meeting 7:00 - 8:15 pm Bring your rabbit/pet/chicken to the meeting. Make sure your animal is in a cage with a solid bottom and that water and food are available. Note: If there is a heavy rain storm, please leave your animal at home. At this meeting we will look at some basic information about our animals – Quiz Cards will be given out. We also will work on developing a demonstrations about our animal….you will learn more about this at the Business Meeting. December and January Events – Mark Your Calendar - Plan Ahead!
