Winston Churchill’s Depression: A Study of Tenacity Winston Churchill was the leader of Great Britain during the darkest days of World War II. It can be debated, but if not for his courage and refusal to surrender to the tyranny of Nazi Germany, Hitler may have been able to dominate the world and many of us would not be alive today. Many are not aware that this great leader suffered from depression throughout his life time, referring to his mood disorder as the “black dog.” This discussion will focus on how Sir Winston Churchill was able to cope with his depression on a daily basis and how those of us who suffer from depression can use his strategy to cope with life trials.
