							        POLICE CERTIFICATE OF CHARACTER APPLICATION KIT


GENERAL INFORMATION

Purpose:    This application kit is for persons who are requesting a Police
            Certificate of good Character from the Criminal Investigation
            Department/Criminal Record Office of the Trinidad and Tobago
            Police Service.

            Police Certificates of Good Character verify that the applicant has
            no previous convictions against him/her. Certificates of good
            character are often required by persons seeking to obtain
            permanent residence or citizenship in Canada.



APPLY FOR A POLICE CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CHARACTER

How Do I Apply For A Police Certificate Of Good Character?

            Complete the application form and include the fee and documents
            listed below. Then submit the application in person or by mail to
            either of the addresses found below for the office closest to you.

Where can I obtain an application form?

            You can obtain an application form online, by mail (please send a
            pre-paid, self addressed return envelope), by fax, or by visiting
            one of the offices below.

Please note completed applications cannot be received by fax
What documents should I include?

The following documents must accompany your application. If any of the required
documents are missing the application may be returned to you.

   1)      A Trinidad and Tobago identification card or passport for verification.
   2)       A set of the applicant’s fingerprints record.
           (Fingerprints records can be obtained from the Police Headquarters,
           the RCMP office in your city, region/province, or a Police approved
           finger print record company.)

Fee:                 A non-refundable fee of CDN$15.00, made payable to the
                     “Trinidad and Tobago High Commission”, or the “Trinidad
                     and Tobago Consulate General “.

Where do I submit the application?

Submit the completed application in person or by mail to one of the addresses
found below:

What happens after I make the application?

              The application form is sent to the Criminal Records Office, where it
              is checked and verified.

How Long Do I Have To Wait For The Certificate?

              The certificate takes three (3) to six (6) months to be returned to the
              High Commission/Consulate General for collection by the applicant.

Postage:      In instances where the applicant cannot collect the Police
              Certificate in person, a self-addressed envelope with the
              appropriate postage should be provided to the High
              Commission/Consulate General when submitting the application.
