Directions: You will complete a reflection of your internship experience. In addition, you will need to include your
personal information in regards to your skills and strengths. This is a long, involved project. I expect you to work
diligently and to follow directions. The portfolio must be neat, orderly, and fashion ready to present to the class and
others.

The following are guidelines to include:

       Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

       Personal Statement (Focus on Interests, Passions, Values, Money Matters and “wants” for the future …
        1 pg essay minimum)

       Sample Resume’ Cover Letter (focus on career from Part 1) (refer to page 147 in the Career Success
        book)

       Sample “Thank You” letter for interviewing you (refer to page 83 in the Century 21 textbook for
        formatting information)

       Updated Resume’ (include your internship experience and make sure your resume’ looks professional)

       “Why I Shine”…include a minimum of 5 items that show your outstanding abilities. (ex. Transcripts,
        Certificate of Achievements, Scholarships received, Awards received, personal drawings you have made,
        excellent writings you have completed, etc.)

       Formal Letters of Recommendations (3 minimum). (not to include family and/or personal
        friends…must be 18 yrs or older)

Formatting Unbound and Bound Reports--KEY

Standard Margins:

Internal Spacing: A ___QS____ is left between the report title and the first line of the body. Multiple line

****Longer reports are generally __bound________ at the __left_____ margin. The binding takes about

Standard Margins: Except for the __left__ margin, all margin settings are the same for unbound and bound
reports.

Headings and Subheadings:
    Center the __main heading______ in ALL CAPS

Title Page:

Documentation: is used to give credit for published material. There are three types of documentation are:

Textual Citation: includes the name(s) of the author(s), the date of the referenced publication and the page
number(s) of the material cited as part of the report text.

Endnote: identifies the reference cited by the superscript number.

Footnotes: identifies the reference cited by the superscript number

**Each of these three types of documentation are required on reference pages.

What is a reference page?
A reference page is a report listed alphabetically by author surnames at the end of a report under the heading
REFERENCES (or BIBLIOGRAPHY or WORKS CITED). QS between the heading and the first reference.
