Whether you are a finalist or postgrad looking for employment after graduation or a first or second year student
searching for vacation work, it’s time to look at what employers are out there, the vacancies they have and how they
recruit.

Online Resources

Start by looking at the Careers website – this should be your first port of call for any careers related issues. ‘My
Careers’ has a broad range of vacancies specifically targeted towards Warwick students and graduates.
Opportunities include full/part time vacancies, work experience, summer schemes, temporary work, academic
placement years and voluntary work. Opportunities are added daily and you can register to receive these
opportunities directly to your Warwick email either on a daily or weekly basis.

If you are interested in specific employers, you can search for opportunities by employers or simply search on all
opportunities. You can also save opportunities that interest you to your ‘My Careers’ record so that you can refer to
them at a later date.

http://www.prospects.ac.uk

Prospects is the UK’s official graduate careers website and includes Prospects Graduate – the national online
graduate vacancy publication.

You can also look at www.targetjobs.co.uk and www.insidecareers.co.uk , both are useful websites for vacancy
information.

Other ways to find vacancies

Many organisations in certain areas, eg the arts, media and publishing to name a few, don’t advertise their
vacancies. You will find them on their websites, if they advertise at all. Speculative applications should be used
where employers do not necessarily have to advertise their vacancies. Look for further information in the Finding a
Job section of the Careers website – follow the Hidden Job Market link and select ‘speculative approach’.

Talk to employers attending Careers Fairs, employer presentations and careers workshops at Warwick. For advice
and further information from Warwick graduates, come to one of our alumni events and make contact.
