requiring him or her to follow very precise
procedures
Job Redesign
• Job Redesign is concerned with change.
• Job Redesign Programs seek to make
jobs more interesting, diverse, and
challenging
Job Rotation
• Job Rotation allows workers to diversify
their activities to offset boredom
• Vertical rotation relates to promotions and
demotions
• Horizontal transfers-moving someone to
another activity when the first is no longer
challenging
Job Enlargement
• Job enlargement expands jobs horizontally
• By increasing the number of tasks an
individual performs, job enlargement
increases diversity
• It increases job scope; that is, it increases
the number of different operations required
in a job
Job Enrichment
• Job enrichment expands jobs vertically
• While job enlargement increases job
scope, job enrichment increases job depth
• Job enrichment allows employees to have
greater control over their work
