International Scientific Technology Exchanges in 2005
China institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) signed 2 international agreements with institutes of Switzerland and Korea, CIAE also successful organized 4 international training courses and workshop. CIAE sent 298 scientists, engineers and technical visitors joint academic exchanges. Among of them 113 persons attend international conferences, 185 persons studied, trained and worked though collaboration, including implementation contracts. CIAE received 850 foreign visitors, they came from 38 countries and regions, they gave about 500 lectures. Some IAEA experts inspected and directed IAEA TC projects to CIAE, also 5 IAEA Fellowships and IAEA Visits through IAEA programme, they were trained 2 weeks to 3 months at CIAE. A list of some visitors is given as follows: Jan. 12-21 Prof. Richard Abram Baartman from Canada TRIUMF to visited CIAE. He gave some lectures, the topics were “Design and operational experience at TRIUMF”, “Injection optics” and “Thoughts for 100 MeV H-Cyclotron”. Jan. 13 Mr. Alain Tournyol du Clos (Nuclear Counselor) and Mr. Daniel Chavardes (Leave one’s post) from French Embassy in China visited CIAE. Jan. 15-24 Experts Nikiforov Aleksandr and Sevelbev Igorb from Russian Institute of Nuclear Power and Design visited and directed at CIAE. Jan. 17-18 Dr. Werner Wagner and Dr. Dai Yong from Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland visited CIAE, signed the cooperation agreement on ADS. Jan. 17 Mr. Hiroshi Kawagoshi, Director, Office of International Relations, Nuclear Safety Division, Science and Technology Policy Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan; Mr. Kanda Tadao, First Secretary from Economic Section, Japanese Embassy in China to visited Heavy Water Research Reactor and China Experimental Fast Reactor at CIAE. Jan. 18 Fifteen persons with the Delegation of USA DOE and National Laboratories Experts visited CIAE, inspected prepare for nuclear materials management technology demonstration. Jan. 24-Feb. 7 Mr. Shu-Yao Fang from Canada TRIUMF National Laboratory visited CIAE and lectured on “Design and operation experience at TRIUMF”, “RF control” and “Thoughts for CIAE’s 100 MeV H-cyclotron”. Feb. 24 Xu Zhe from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Germany visited CIAE, he lectured on “Thermalization of gluons at RHIC including gg-ggg interactions in a parton cascade”. Feb. 28-Mar. 6 Delegation of BELGO NUCLEAIRE visited CIAE and discussed the cooperation. Mar. 4-18 Five experts from Russia OKB Mechanical Engineering visited CIAE and directed CEFR work. Mar. 15-18 Thirteen persons from USA DOE and National Laboratories visited CIAE and directed nuclear materials protection system. Mar. 16-18 Prof. Seong-Seok Hong from Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Science, Mr. Yong-Sik Kim and Mr. Dong-Goo Kang from Sam Young Unitech Co., Ltd visited Tandem Accelerator and Cyclotron at CIAE. Mar. 31-Apr. 10 Through IAEA Visit, Mr. O.D.Pasten from Commission of Chile Nuclear Energy, Ms. Nelida Emilia Heresimilad from Institute of Innovation Metal Mine, Chile, they visited two weeks duration in the field of isotope hydrology and application of isotopes and radiation in industry at CIAE. Apr. 4-8 The fifteen persons of USA DOE and National Laboratories visited Nuclear Safeguards Laboratory at CIAE. Apr. 11 Mr. Alian Heranlt from France Framaton Company visited CIAE and discussed cooperation. Apr. 11-14 Mr. Dennis W. Reisenweaver (Technical Officer) from International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA Experts Mr. Eric W. W. Hansford and Mr. Vladan Liubenov visited CIAE and directed TC project “Decommissioning planning and technology for the Heavy Water Research Reactor”. They lectured on “preparation of the decommissioning plan”. Apr. 11-July 10 Mr. Noah Asare from Ghana Atomic Energy Commission visited CIAE through IAEA Fellowship. He was trainee on “Drive mechanism for control rod of Miniature Neutron Source Reactor, principle design, repair and maintenance”, “Rabbit system, principle design, repair and maintenance” and “Machining of minor mechanical components”. Apr. 12-13 Reiner Zorn from Neutron Scattering Center of Juelich Institute of Solid State Research, Germany visited CIAE. He gave some lectures, the topics were “Experiments on the dynamics of glass-forming systems using inelastic neutron scattering and macroscopic relaxation methods” and “Neutron scattering facilities at the research reactor FRJ-2 in Juelich, Germany”. Apr. 12-July 10 Ms. Kravtsova Natalya from Kazakstan Republican Research Center for Mother and Child Health Care visited CIAE through IAEA fellowship. She was training three months on “Principles of RIA and IRMA”, “Radioiodination technique”, “Preparation of monoclonal antibody”, “Preparation and quality control of RIA reagents for neonatal screening programme” and “Radiation protection and safety”. Apr. 22-25 Prof. Juha Aysto from Fenland University of Jyvaskyla visited CIAE, he lectured on “Nuclear physics with radioactive beam in Europe and recent result from JYFL”. Oct. 24-28 Joint China-U.S. Integrated Nuclear Materials Management Technology Demonstration was held at CIAE, participants 39 from USA DOE and National Laboratories. Oct. 24-26 Dr. Fermin Cuevas and Michel Latroche from French Institute of Metal visited CIAE and lectured on “Neutron diffraction for metal-hydride studies (particularly in relation with my current investigations on TiNi-based alloys)”. Oct. 30-Nov. 13 Mr. Conde Lopez Jose Manuel from Spain, Mr. Neuber Jens Christian from Framatome-ANP GMBH visited CIAE and lectured on “Implementation of burn-up credit and criticality safety analysis”. Nov. 30 The Four persons with Delegation of Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute visited China Experimental Fast Reactor and discussed the cooperation. Dec. 2-16 Prof. William Gyles from Canada TRIUMF National Laboratory visited CIAE. He gave lectures, the topics were “The problem of trim and harmonic coils and magnet design” and “The magnetic measurements and instrumentation”. Dec. 8 Prof. Roger Hutton from Lund University, Sweden visited CIAE. Dec. 10-25 Engineer Mads Petersen from Danfysik Company, Denmark maintained equipment at CIAE. Dec. 14-17 Four persons of Delegation of Neutron Beam Applications HANARO Center, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute visited CIAE, lectured on “Neutron scattering technique and relative reactor and cold source technique discussion”. Dec. 13-26 Prof. Rao Yi-Nong from Canada TRIUMF National Laboratory visited CIAE. He gave some lectures, the topics were “General thoughts on extraction optics of the 100 MeV cyclotron” and “Emittance of extraction beam calculation by COMA for the 100 MeV cyclotron”.
