Charting a Course with Ruby on Rails By Douglas R. Fales Date: 11/30/2006 Time: 5:00pm-6:30pm Venus: ECCR 245 Douglas delivered an interesting topic on how to realize his very own idea into a web application by facilitating Ruby on Rails (RoR) framework. He first shared to the audience the motivation and how he managed to get the project realized. In second part of the talk he shared about how RoR is different from other web development tools and the advantages of it. He first had his idea of integrating his personal travel experience like digital photos taking along the journey into Google map where the trail of the journey can be recorded and display. This talk is more related to entrepreneur than research topic. The speaker did talk about the stuffs that inspire him to create the application. He presented his idea clearly in the talk by going into not-so technical details. However, he was spending less than 20 minutes in describing RoR, which serves as main topic in the talk.
