Free Record Shop, Holland’s largest chain of shops for Multi-Media products
invested in a large Quad-tray Sorter. The Sorting System can sort three
product flows simultaneously:

(1) cross docking of all the incoming products to the shops,
(2) outgoing orders from the warehouse to the shops
(3) returns from the shops to warehouse locations or to suppliers.

The sorter consists of 480 destinations with special designed chutes for
books, multi-media products like cd’s, dvd’s videos and accessories.

The maximum capacity of the Sorting System is 20.000 trays per hour.
The products are automatically de-stacked by means of a multifunctional de-stacker.
A barcode camera system based on vision technology is reading the barcode of the
products. A label with price and shop information, is automatically attached to every product.

Through 2 automatic in-feed lines the products can be sorted to one of the 480 destinations.
The sorter is an ES 34 Quad Tilt-Tray delivered by EuroSort Systems BV.
Operators equipped with RF scanners to link the barcode of the Free Record Shop totes
to the destinations which makes the exact content of the boxes traceable throughout the
whole supply chain. After the boxes are filled a box-content list is printed and an address
Label is attached. Hereafter the boxes are closed, sealed and then dispatched to the
shops / suppliers.
