The client is dedicated to the cultivation, commercialization, and export of roses to some of the world’s
largest markets. However, they needed a system that would allow them to quickly and efficiently

Security personnel: Needed to stay in communication with one another and with all of the offices
in order to adequately protect the facility from theft, trespassing, vandalism, etc.
Previously, the clients’ supervisors were equipped with traditional cellular handsets and their employees
were limited to the use of traditional point-to-point walkie-talkies. They felt this system was inadequate
due to the high cost of cellular service. Most importantly however, they were looking for a system that
would allow them to speed up their decision-making process and be more agile. Traditional cellular
greatly impaired swift decision-making due to the fact that communications were restricted to one-to-one
conversations. When important issues needed to be agreed upon by several people, it would take
several phone calls explaining the circumstances of the problem to each of the project’s stakeholders
before a final decision could be obtained. Eavesdropping on cellular phone calls also proved to be an
issue when employees were trying to have private conversations pertaining to sensitive information.
In order to address their communications needs, the client chose its regions iDEN service provider. The
client opted to primarily use the service provider’s PTT and Group PTT services to keep employees
across their three main business sectors connected instantly at the touch of a button.
