It has good water shedding properties yet allows wood to breathe. For exterior use on
softwood and hardwood, including doors, window frames, cladding, barge boards and garden
furniture. Also suitable for use on stone, brick or metal surfaces.

Sheen Level: 20%

Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and other contamination.
In environments likely to encourage wood rotting fungi; treat with appropriate wood
                        preservative prior to priming.
New Soft and Hard Wood Surfaces – Fill any cracks, holes and open joins with appropriate
exterior filler and patch prime knots and filler with Farrow & Ball Aluminium Based Primer.
Apply Farrow & Ball Exterior Oil Primer & Undercoat.
New Resinous Hard Wood Surfaces - Fill any cracks, holes and open joins with appropriate
exterior filler and apply one coat of Farrow & Ball Aluminium Based Primer followed by
one to two coats of Farrow & Ball Exterior Oil Primer & Undercoat.
Previously Painted Wood Surfaces – Sand back areas of old paint that have peeled or
blistered, rub down well to achieve a good ‘key’, and prime with Farrow & Ball Exterior Oil
                        Primer & Undercoat.
New Metal Surfaces – New and previously unpainted surfaces should be thoroughly
degreased with a degreasing solvent. Ensure the surface is sound, clean and dry and free from
rust, dirt and any other loose or flaking particles. Apply one coat of Farrow & Ball Metal
Previously painted Metal Surfaces - If visibly deteriorating, previously painted metal work
should be stripped back to the bare metal and apply one coat of Farrow & Ball Metal Primer.
If painted surface is sound, rub down well.
Unsound surfaces - may not successfully accept further paint layers; if in doubt seek
professional advice. This is particularly important when the surface has a history of pale
colouration and a relatively dark shade is now to be applied. The increase in surface
temperature with colours such as dark green or blue is significant and will create extra stress
                        on any unsound under layers.

Painting: Stir thoroughly before use. Once the above surface preparation is completed apply two coats.
When more than one tin of the same colour is to be used ensure that batch numbers are
identical or intermix before use. Paint should be applied in good weather conditions,
                        avoiding extreme temperatures.

Washability: Completely washable and wipeable.

Coverage: Up to 32 square metres per 2.5 litres depending on the surface being painted.

Drying Time: This product should be applied in good weather conditions. Touch dry 4 hours, hard dry 8
hours, re-coat in 18 hours. These times are dependent on conditions.

Thinners: Low odour Thinner. NB: the use of low odour solvent does not preclude the requirement
for ventilation during application. Please read Health & Safety below.
