President’s Message &
The month of July will crown the Men’s Club Champion and Ladies 18 & 9 Hole Club Champions. This event will be contested on Friday July 11th Sunday July 13th for the men and on the weekend for the ladies. The men will play a 54 hole stroke play event from the Blue Tees and the Ladies will play either 36 holes or 18 holes from the Red Tees. Following Sundays round a 10 player shootout will be held for the top finishers in the Men’s Club Championship, beverages will be provided during this event. The second Junior Clinic will be held the 22nd 24th of July from 10:30-11:30 and will conclude with the Junior Club Championship on Friday July 25th. The fee for the clinic will be $30 per child and you may call the proshop to register. The ladies will hold an 18 hole Member Guest on Thursday July 24th. This will be a 2:00 shotgun followed by dinner and prizes. The entry fee is only $45 per player and includes golf, carts, dinner and prizes, a large turnout is expected so sign up early, the sign up sheet is on the landing. The ever popular Buffet Bash will be played on Saturday July 26th. This couples event will have an 18 & 9 hole division with two different formats. The 18 holers will start at 12:30 with tee times and play 1 best ball of the men combined with 1 best ball of the ladies and use Stableford scoring. The 9 holers will play a 4 person scramble. After the golf all will join up for an evening of food, drinks and music. The entry fees are $80 per couple for 18 holes, $60 per couple for 9 holes and $40 per couple for dinner only. The sign up sheet is on the landing and a good time will be had by all. The Parent Child will be contested on Sunday July 27th starting at 10:00 AM and use tee times. This is a two person scramble with three divisions: 2 men on a team, 2 ladies on a team or a blended team. The entry fee will be $15 per player plus any applicable guest fees and will include tee prizes as well as team prizes. Also be looking out for other upcoming events in early August: 2nd & 3rd: Pinehurst Best Ball (2 person team event) 7th: Men’s Member Guest (4 person team event) 9th: Husband Wife Club Championship 17th: President’s Cup Qualifier 20th: Pro Member
The month of June was very busy at MiamiView with tournaments, Founders Day, Ladies Invitational and a special event for Bob Krueger. The course has been in excellent shape and we have received numerous compliments from members and guests on our fine facility. Please help us keep the course in fine condition by remembering to repair you divots and ball marks. Update on the Practice Range is that the final grading for the 1 acre tee is complete and drainage for the tee and the range has also been completed. The irrigation is currently being installed and everything is on schedule for a Spring of 2009 opening. Feel free to walk over and view your new practice area, just beware of the workers and equipment during normal working hours. Our membership is full and we have 5 names on the wait list anxiously awaiting to become full members at MiamiView. Founders Day was a huge success with 112 golfers participating and the weather was fantastic, Phil Thompson took credit for that. We have contracted a new cleaning service for the clubhouse and hopefully you have seen an improvement in the cleanliness of our building. If you have any comments on this please share them with a Board member. The fishing tournament attracted over 50 children and fun was had by all. Howard had the lake at #4 well-stocked and every fisher-person walked away with a trophy for their efforts. — Tim Hinkel
18 Hole Spring Team
Miami View’s ladies 18 hole spring team placed first in Division II of the GCWGA Spring League. Matches were played against Camargo, Coldstream, Hyde Park, Ivy Hills, Kenwood and Western Hills. It was a closely contested season with six teams finishing within ten points of each other. Team members included Diane Calkins, Jan DeGroff, Kathy Dinkelacker, Debbie Driehaus, Donna Betz, Diane Rottinghaus and Kelly Jennings. Many thanks to John, Brad and the pro shop staff, Jim Riley and staff, and Rick and staff. By finishing first in Division II, the team moves up to Division I for the first time in 20 years! — Donna Betz, Captain

Congratulations to our winners: 9 hole A Karen Dooley B Betty Knodle 18 hole 1st Claire Hughes 2nd Peggy Cappel & Marilyn Rhein June 24th turned out to be a gorgeous day for our Invitational. A big thank you goes to Jenny Zimmer, Joanne Schrand and the rest of their committee for planning such a wonderful event. A good time was had by all. Congratulations to all the winners. The Ladies Senior Club Championship was also contested in June. Congratulations to: 1st - Peggy Eichhold 2nd - Debbie Bigner 3rd - Jean Kauffman. By the time you receive this, we will have played our Red, White & Blue Tournament scheduled for July 1st. Jean Kauffman has a great tournament lined up for all the ladies to enjoy. Don’t forget to sign up for our Member Guest Days. The 9 hole will be on Thursday July 10th at 3:00. The 18 hole will be on Thursday July 24th at 2:00. Check the landing for all the details. The Ladies Club championship will be contested on Saturday & Sunday July 12 & 13. The GCWGA Tournament Qualifier is scheduled fro July 15th during regular Tuesday league play. And the Flight championship is scheduled for July 22 & 29 during regular Tuesday league play. Plan to sign up for our August events: * The 2 Lady Best Ball, Miami Bowl on August 5th * * Rally for a Cure on August 12th * * Devil’s Draw on August 26th * Just a reminder ladies: If you are expecting a call and take your cell phone on the course during league play, please put it on vibrate, so you don’t disturb your fellow golfers.
