							What is Dialogue?


     Dialogue is a special conversation among people with different points of
      view on issues of mutual concern.



     Unlike participants in other forms of conversation, people engaged in
      dialogue do not try to accomplish a specific task or persuade others to
      accept their position.



     Participants in dialogue assume that many people have pieces of the
      answer and that together they can craft a solution.



     In dialogue, people explore common ground, listen attentively for
      understanding, suspend judgments and examine their own assumptions.



     The objective is thinking together to discover new options.
