Signal Box removal letter by hcj

									London Overground Infrastructure Improvement Programme
November 2009 Dear Neighbour We are writing to inform you of some activity in your area associated with a £326m project to upgrade the London Overground network and improve its services. This scheme, jointly funded by Transport for London, the Olympic Delivery Authority, Network Rail and the Department for Transport, is being taken forward by Network Rail who has fasttracked the programme of works to ensure its completion ahead of the Olympics. The project itself will include a significant signalling upgrade, the renewal of approximately seven kilometres of tracks and 69 sets of points as well as some new lengthened platforms. As part of the signalling upgrade element of this project new signalling equipment has been installed on and near to the Gospel Oak to Barking line. We will now work to remove some of the old, redundant assets including the Haringey signal box located alongside the railway line between Stapleton Hall and Oakfield roads. This work will be carried out between Saturday 21 November and Friday 18 December. In order to complete the removal of the signal box beside the train line we will need to work during the day and also the night at some times throughout this period. During the mid weeks we will be removing material from inside the signal box by hand, and at the weekends we will be using small machinery to remove the exterior materials. The heavier work will be done during day time hours to minimise disruption. It is not anticipated that heavy machinery will be required for this activity. Network Rail is committed to working with the local community and we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum whilst we carry out this planned work in your area. We have also notified the appropriate officers at London Borough of Haringey of this planned activity. If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact the Network Rail National Helpline on 08457 11 41 41, visit our website; or email; Please use the reference NLRIP WP8 5 in any communication with us.

Yours faithfully

Nick Gray Community Relations Manager, Network Rail
