General Guidelines of Residential Permit Requirements
Residential construction exempt from Code but still requires a City of
Latrobe Permit
• Structures with an area of less than 1000 sq. ft and which are accessory uses to a
1 or 2 family dwelling, such as a detached garage, greenhouse, shed, carport.
Residential Repair Work exempt from Code but still requires a City
of Latrobe Permit
• Fences not over 6 ft. high
• Retaining walls not over 4 ft. high and not supporting earth higher than the top
of the wall.
• Window, door, storm door & storm window, and garage door replacement
with no change in size.
• Roof replacement.
• Gutters & downspouts
• Replacement of existing siding.
• Repair/replacement of part of a porch or stoop not supporting a roof structure.
• Decks not higher than 30 inches above grade.
• The UCC Code will apply to alterations of residences if those changes are
structural and/ or egress changes.
Plan Review, Permits, and Inspections are required for all new
Residential construction and Residential additions.
