1. What is the DMA project?
DMA stands for Direct Market Access, which is essentially a direct connection to the
Exchange’s electronic trading platform – Bursa Trade (formerly known as the
Common Trading Platform or CTP). Essentially, it enables the routing of orders
DIRECTLY to Bursa Malaysia via a local broker for immediate execution. Hence it is
2. May I connect directly to the Exchange?
The DMA Broker of your choice may propose to either connect a DMA ‘solution’
installed at his premises OR connect to the DMA gateway installed at the Exchange.
If your DMA broker chooses the latter i.e., to connect to the DMA Gateway, then
you are technically connected to the Exchange. However, from a business
perspective, your trades are processed/passed via a Malaysian broker.
3. Do I need to test (connect to the Exchange’s testing platform)?
Yes, you will need to test your connectivity to the Exchange. The DMA broker of
your choice would be able to guide you.
