Speaker

MICHAEL JONES currently holds the position of BP General Manager (Hydrogen). He leads
the BP hydrogen programme. He was responsible for establishing the BP leading position
in many of the worlds major hydrogen demonstration programs, including the Clean Urban
Transport for Europe programme in which BP will be the largest single supplier of hydrogen
and refueling infrastructure to DaimlerChrysler fuel cell buses in several European cities
and Perth, Australia. Other projects include establishing various hydrogen-refueling
projects with major auto manufacturers in Singapore and Los Angeles, and initiating
technology development projects. He has worked with many major auto manufacturers,
Industrial Gas companies and technology developers which are supporting BP in
developing the skills and capabilities to supply hydrogen as a transport fuel. He has
successfully developed technical concepts from the research phase through to
commercialization for several businesses in BP.

Abstract

As one of the worlds largest energy companies, BP sees that hydrogen has the
opportunity to become the ultimate clean fuel for the transportation sector. BP is
developing a detailed understanding of the challenges and issues which need to be
addressed to allow the successful development of the hydrogen economy. The
presentation will outline BP hydrogen strategy and how BP is participating in
demonstration programmes around the world, including Singapore to develop the
solutions necessary to enable hydrogen to be a viable fuel.
