                        What is NRHH

• The NRHH National Office: NRHH is the recognition branch of
NACURH. NACURH, as an organization, that believes recognition must be
strong and an essential part of the Residence Hall community. As such,
NRHH exists to ensure that we do not forget to give those necessary and
more than deserved, pats on the back.

• NRHH works as a recognition tool through individual campus chapters.
NRHH chapters have a very special way of recognizing accomplishments at
their schools through membership into the organization, Of The Month’s, and
recognition activities. The NRHH chapter membership (per school) is
restricted to 1% of students living in the residence halls, or a minimum of 20.
So, once inducted into NRHH you can consider yourself a member of the
Top 1% of residence hall leaders.
          What does NRHH Do?
The activity of the chapters varies from campus
  to campus.
• Some are simply honorary chapters and induct new
members at an annual recognition banquet once a
  year.
• Others are extremely active on their campuses and in
  their communities: coordinating leadership retreats,
  conferences, socials, campus wide programs,
fundraisers, and a whole host of other events.
• Some have found a middle ground that works best for
their campus needs by incorporating both concepts.
What is required to be in NRHH
• Minimum Induction Criteria for Chapters
  An individual must:
• Have lived in the residence halls for at least one
  year.
• Have made a positive contribution to the
  residence hall system.
• Be in good standing at their school.
• Have at least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
        Types of Membership
• NRHH Membership
Once an individual has been inducted as an NRHH
member, he/she is an NRHH member for life.
• General Membership
A general member of an NRHH Chapter is one that has
been inducted into the Chapter and is currently living in
on-campus housing. Temporary leaves from on-campus
housing such as, but not limited to: co-ops, internships, or
study abroad, will not effect the individual’s general status
of NRHH. In the case of a temporary leave, the NRHH
member should notify the Chapter president, in writing,
including the duration of the temporary leave.
   Types of Membership Cont’d
• Alumni Membership
An alumni member of an NRHH Chapter is a member that has
moved off campus or graduated. These members do not count in
  the 1% cap.
• Honorary Membership
An Honorary membership is designed to recognize people
including, but not limited to: housing personnel, instructors, college
or university staff, and those who have demonstrated outstanding
support and service to the residence hall students. Individuals who
could qualify for general membership, with the exception of
graduating seniors, cannot be inducted as an "honorary member."
The number of honorary members a chapter shall be able to induct
per academic year will not exceed ten percent of the chapter's
membership cap. These members do not count in the 1% cap.
Who is in Charge of NRHH
• The NRHH national level consists of the National
  Office.
• The National Office is responsible for affiliating
NRHH chapters, selecting national OTM’s (Of the
Months), designing the apparel and maintaining
inventory (T-shirts, sweatshirts, and pins, oh my)
and a host of other tasks.
• There are also members at the regional level
called RAD’s (Regional Associate Director); they
work with the National Office and with the
regions in regards to NRHH, OTM’s and
recruitment, as well as other tasks.
How should NRHH be set up
             at my school ?
• The National Office constitution states:
1. Each chapter shall have a constitution which must contain
articles relating to name, purpose, membership qualification,
selection procedures, officers, meetings, finances, and
   amendment procedures.
2. All chapter constitutions shall be subject to the provisions of
the NRHH; its By-Laws and amendments; and amendments
to the NACURH, Inc. Constitution and By-Laws.
• However all other aspects of the running of your chapter is
up to the chapter’s exec board and your advisor
        What is an OTM?
Of-the-Month awards are a primary means of
recognizing outstanding individuals and
programs during a particular month. The actual
OTM form can be made available at your
school’s NRHH office. (Hint: OTM's are normally
due by the 10th of each month so chances are
you'll always be nominating someone from the
previous month.) Keep in mind that nominations
are often judged by how "above and beyond" the
call of duty someone went. You can even write
an OTM for yourself.
        Still have Questions?

• The best way to get your questions answered is
  by contacting:
• Your RAD (check your regional web site)
• NRHH National Office (www.NRHH.org)
