2008-2009 Cancer Registry &Surveillance Webinar Series: Overview and FAQ’s Overview The 2008-2009 NAACCR webinar series includes twelve webinars, one each month, beginning in October 2008 through September 2009. Six of the twelve webinars will be focused on site-specific data collection and will include information on data items required by all standard setters. The subject matter will be pertinent to central and hospital registry staff. The remaining six webinars will focus on other aspects of cancer surveillance and data collection, three of which are pertinent to central and hospital registry staff and three of which are more pertinent to central registry staff. However, place of employment does not restrict participation in any of the webinars. The audio for all webinar sessions will be broadcast via VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) only. We will not be using teleconferencing. Each webinar will be 3 hours in length and presented twice in the same day, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) and from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. ET. We will apply to NCRA for CE approval for the entire series and anticipate receiving approval of 36 CE hours for the series, 3 CE hours per webinar. All subscriptions include the recording of the live webinar. The following subscription packages are available: 12 webinars 9 webinars 6 webinars Single webinar $1020 $855 $660 $180 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) Q: I noticed you no longer have a webinar series specifically for hospital registries. Will the webinars be relevant to me as a hospital based registrar? A: Absolutely! Nine of the twelve webinars will be relevant to all cancer registrars regardless of whether they work in hospital or central registry. By combining the two series we hope to improve uniformity of data collection and communication between central and hospital registrars. Q: Two of our staff work from home and it is sometimes difficult for them to travel to the main office to view the webinars. Can they view the webinars from their home offices? A: The webinars can be used however you choose. If you choose to show one webinar from the central office and have your two off-site staff view them from their home offices, you would be using three webinars from your package to view the one session. Q: If I purchase a webinar package with another hospital, can we each choose which webinars we want to view? Can these be the same webinars? A: Yes to both questions! Let’s say you and the other facility are only interested in viewing the site specific webinars (6 of them). You could jointly purchase the 12 webinar package and each of you could watch all six of the site specific webinars from the comfort of your separate facilities. Q: Do I have to select which webinars I want to view when I purchase the webinars? A: No. You can wait until the day of the webinar if you choose! However, we do recommend registering at least one week prior to make sure you have time to download all of the handouts. We occasionally have exercises that should be completed prior to the webinar. Q: What if I know which webinars I will be viewing. Do I have to wait to register? A: No need to wait! If you know which webinars you would like to view, you can go ahead and register as soon as they are open. You will be notified automatically whenever materials are posted and sent a reminder with a link to join the session 24 hours prior to the start of the webinar. Q: What is VOIP? A: VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. This year we will not be using the standard phone lines for the audio portion of the webinars. The audio portion of the webinars will come through your computer. We have found the audio quality much better using VOIP than with teleconferencing. Q: How do I know if I will be able to get VOIP to work on my computer or in our conference room? A: We would be more than happy to help you test your system! Just contact Jim Hofferkamp at jhofferkamp@naaccr.org and we’ll set up a practice session! If you are viewing the webinar from your computer, you will either need speakers for your computer or a headset. Q: What if I am unable to attend a live webinar, can I get a recording? Is there a charge? A: You can get a recording at no extra charge. However, this will count as one of your webinars. Please contact Shannon Vann (svann@naaccr.org, 217-698-0800 ext. 9) or Jim Hofferkamp (jhofferkamp@naaccr.org, 217-698-0800 ext. 5) with any questions you may have about the webinar series.
