Finished Measurement: Width = 15”, Length = 15”
Materials: 1 (2) skeins Louet Euroflax (100% Wet Spun Linen 270 yds) Shown in: Melon Mix # 84 With double strand
• 1 US # 7 (4.5mm)—24” Circular needle
• 1 US # 11 (8mm)—24” Circular needle
• Stitch Marker
• Tapestry needle
Gauge: 16 sts and 18 rows = 6” (15 cm), size 11 (8 mm) needles with double strand—knotted mesh stitch
Notes: The pattern gives you an option for a double strand or single strand. The single strand will be just as tough, but will be airier and
just a bit smaller so it is easier to fit in your purse on your way to the market! It is also easier on your wallet in other ways as well….
Stitch Guide:
Tweed Stitch
Row 1: *K1, yarn forward, slip 1 purl wise, yarn behind; repeat from * to end
Repeat this row over and odd number of stitches
Knotted Mesh Stitch
Row 1: *K1, (knit through horizontal strand before next stitch, k1, pass made stitch over k1); repeat from * to end
Row 2: Knit
Repeat these two rows
Directions:
Body:
Cast on 165 stitches with smaller needle
Place marker and join into round and work in Tweed Stitch (see stitch guide) for 7 rounds
Next Round: Change to larger needles, K3, *Knit 2 stitches together (k2tog); repeat from * to end (84 sts)
Work in Knotted Mesh Stitch (see stitch guide) until bag measures 14” from cast on edge (end with a Row 1)
Next Round: Change to smaller needles, K3 *K1, make 1; repeat from * to end (165 sts)
Work in Tweed Stitch for 7 rounds
Bind off loosely.
Weave in loose ends.
Seam bottom closed.
Strap:
Cast on 9 sts with large needle (this is worked back and forth
Row 1: K1, *yarn forward, slip 1 purl wise, yarn behind, k1; repeat from * to end
Row 2: Slip 1, P1 *yarn behind, slip 1 purl wise, yarn forward, p1; repeat from * to end
Continue these 2 rows until yarn runs out or until desired length.
