Munising’s
Farmers Market
Gateway to Adventure
Purpose:
The Munising Farmer's Market operates under the authority of the City of
Munising and is managed by Alger County MSU Extension. Its purpose is
to:
1. Promote local farmers and growers.
2. Create a direct, 'producer to consumer' marketplace.
3. Make available fresh, wholesome, quality food to those
seeking such products.
4. Provide a festive marketplace that benefits local merchants
and townspeople by adding color and diversity to
Munising's downtown.
The quality of the products and the expertise of the sellers is vital to the market
experience. Integrity and authenticity are of utmost importance.
Events (Schedule):
The 2009 Munising Farmer's Market will be open on Tuesdays, starting
May 26, 2009 and run through October, 5pm to 7pm in Bayshore Park,
Munising, MI.
Demonstrations by a variety of artists and craftspeople will take place
from 4pm to 5pm on many farmer's market days. From July through mid-
August, the farmer's market is scheduled to operate just prior to the
concert in the park.
Vendor Registration:
Local (U.P.-wide) producers of fresh produce and farm products as well
as artists and artisans are welcome to apply through the Alger County
MSU Extension office. All artist and artisan applications are screened by
the Munising Bay Arts Association. All vendors are subject to approval by
the market master and, if approved, are responsible for documentation of
compliance with state and local licensing, regulations and sales tax laws.
