RECYCLING AT TRANSFER STATIONS
All transfer stations in the Timaru District have facilities for recycling the following
CLEAN materials: please put into the yellow lidded wheelie bins.
• All paper, newspaper, paperboard and cardboard
• All glass bottles and jars
• All steel, tin, aluminium cans and aerosol containers
• Rigid plastic bottles and containers: milk, soft drink, janitorials, shampoo,
conditioner, ice cream, margarine etc containers
Transfer stations accept separated garden materials for composting.
There are facilities for the collection of scrap metal and Geraldine, Temuka and
Pleasant Point. Car bodies can be dropped off for free at the scrap metal yard at 52
Redruth St, Timaru.
Car and truck batteries can be dropped off for free at all transfer stations.
Facilities for the collection of domestic quantities of waste oil are provided at the
transfer stations in Timaru, Temuka and Geraldine
Household hazardous waste and chemicals are accepted at all transfer stations.
Contact the Council if you have agrichemicals or other chemicals to dispose of.
Textiles and Clothing:
Please make use of the free drop off for textiles and clothing at one of the many
charitable collection bins in the District and at Redruth Landfill.
