TRAVEL
      By Air
The nearest international airport is the Jože Pučnik Airport Ljubljana, situated
about 35 kilometres south of Bled. It has daily connections to major European
cities.

The national air carrier of Slovenia is Adria Airways. Adria has regular
connections with all of the major European airports:

The taxi rank is right in front of the terminal. Taxis are available according to the
actual arrivals of flights. A fare from the Airport to Bled costs approximately 55

      By Train
The Lesce-Bled railway station (4 km) lies on the Villach - Jesenice - Ljubljana -
Belgrade - Istanbul - Athens railway line. It is approximately 45 km from the
national borders with Austria (Wurzenpass - Korensko sedlo) and Italy (Fusine
Laghi - Rateče).

CURRENCY AND CREDIT CARDS
The Slovene currency from January 1, 2007 is euro. Unlimited amounts of
foreign currency in cash, cheques etc. may be brought into the country and need
not be declared on entry. Foreign currency may be exchanged at banks,
exchange offices, travel agencies, hotels, the airport and railway stations.
All major credit cards, such as American Express, Mastercard-Eurocard, Visa,
etc., are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.


BANKS
Banks are open weekdays between 9.00 – 15.00 and closed on Saturdays and
Sundays.


POST OFFICES
Post office is open from 8.00 to 19.00 on weekdays and from 8.00 to 12.00 on
Saturdays.


SMOKING
In accordance with the Slovene Law on changes and supplements of the Law on
restricting the usage of tabacco products, which took effect in August 2007,
smoking is forbidden in all closed public and working spaces. Smokers should use
outdoor areas.

TELECOMMUNICATION
When calling Slovenia from abroad, dial the country code (+386), followed by
the regional code – 04 for Bled (without the zero) and then the number of the
person you are calling. For international calls from Slovenia, dial 00, then the
code of the country you wish to call.
The Mobitel d.d. company is the largest mobile telecommunications operator in
Slovenia. The Mobitel GSM network covers 99% of the country while the Mobitel
UMTS network covers 66%. Phones for roaming in Slovenian networks can be
rented in Mobitel centers.
Mobile communication systems have also been established by the companies
Si.mobil – Vodafone and Debitel. All of these companies provide speech and data
transmission, short message service and mobile Internet access.

Golf

 Bled has the largest golf course in Slovenia.
 The season runs from March to December.
 The course is renowned as one of the most
 beautiful in Europe.


 The older Bled course has an area of 65 ha
 and 18 holes, PAR 73, SSS 73, lenght 6338
 m. On the new course, 9 holes of a total of
 18 have been completed, PAR 72, SSS 72,
 lenght 2168 m, area 27 ha.

SIGHTSEEING
BLED ISLAND

 Slovenia has only one island but its
 uniqueness makes it more attractive than
 many     an   archipelago.    Sheltered    by
 picturesque mountains, the island reigns
 in the middle of an Alpine lake.

BLED CASTLE

The Bled castle stands on a rock about 100 m
above the lake. There is a great view to the
town, lake and countryside. The castle is
arranged as a museum. There is also large
collection of armour and weapons from the
16th the 18th centuries. Interesting is also a
jewellery some interesting carvings. You can
also visit printing works, castle cellar, herbal
gallery, restaurant, souvenir shop and see
multivision.
