Global warming potential Global warming potential (GWP) is a measure of the relative radiative effect of GHGs compared to CO2. GWP used by Parties should be those provided by the IPCC 2nd Assessment Report (“1995 IPCC GWP values”) based on the effects of the GHGs over a 100-year time horizon. The value of GWP is fixed for the 1st commitment period, but it is subject to change for the subsequent commitment periods depending on new scientific findings.
